The Bugatti Type 57S Competition Coupe Aerolithe (French for meteor) was unveiled at the 1935 Paris Motor Show under its original name, the Type 57 Coupe Special.

The Firebird XP-21 was the first gas turbine-powered car built and tested in the United States.

The styling was influenced by the Douglas F4D Skyray jet and - back in 1953 - was described as “a jet fighter on four wheels”. There were one or two problems: the exhaust temperature at the tailpipe was 1,000-degrees fahrenheit and it was seriously thirsty.
