Our first POM for the new year, and the theme is "Winter"
Entries close January 20th
Rules Rehash ....
1) Most importantly, this is meant to be fun. Anyone taking this too seriously, or getting upset about who wins and why will be taken out back and given a thorough thrashing.
2) Entries should not contain any infringing, threatening, false, misleading, abusive, harassing, libelous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory or pornographic content
3) It's got to be piccy's you've taken yourself
4) You can enter up to a maximum of THREE (3) pics this month
5) You can't vote for your own pic
6) Submit a version of your image 800Pixels wide. You can optionally submit a high res version as well. Please try and submit in JPG format.
7) You submit your image by sending me a PM with the link(s) to the image(s).
8.) Don't disclose the taker of any entry if you are sure of who took it - that includes your own image - but feel free to guess.
9) You can enter every month, but you can only use an image once - don't go submitting the same image in multiple POMs
10) You can use "in camera" techniques to enhance images but refrain from photoshopping. You can crop/resize images.
11) Stick to the theme
12) Winner picks next months theme
So remember rule 1, and get your entries in. I will post the entries as I receive them, and remember it is anonymous until we have a winner.

Everyone take note that this month we will again accept multiple entries (up to 3) per person.
Good luck all and lets see if one of us is good enough to knock that cocky WB off his 4-peat streak

Does the "refrain from Photoshopping" include B+W conversion?

I guess most digital cams today offer a B&W function.

That's not what I asked. Using the B+W setting on your camera is not the same as a conversion. In Photoshop or in other programs (I often use Alien Skin) you have much more control of the process. It is very similar to the control you get in the darkroom. I use PS extensively, but only for processes you can duplicate in a darkroom, if you were using film.

Interesting... does it have the ability to create happy little mistakes? I was at a show a few months back and the photographer was still using film. The only reason I (thought) knew was because a couple of his images had some "light leak" streaks and one of them was at the tail end of the roll where he tried to squeeze one last frame and the image had that rose/multicolored fade as the film ran out.

A basic B&W function will be fine. If in doubt, read rule #1

I don't take it seriously at all, in fact I was going to ask if I could participate for discussion purposes only. My feeling is that art is for appreciation, not competition. I may not be expressing myself well Spanky, I am very upset by the Schumacher news.

I'm with you on the Schumi news .... just keep hoping for the best there for him and his family.
Great to have your participation here in the discussion, but do enter a piccy or two, we love getting entries here and we really need someone to knock WB's off his perch

Perhaps I will. I do use Photoshop, though for the most part I try not to have a Photoshop look to my work. Take a look if you wish.
