I joined post the Ewan era so I'm not sure what I missed or why he left but he seems held in high esteem by many still.

2014 trends and records

- Only four drivers (Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel) and two teams (Mercedes and Red Bull) have won a race in the 15 months since Fernando Alonso won the 2013 Spanish GP for Ferrari. The Scuderia’s subsequent 25-race run without a victory is the longest since their 1990-1994 drought.

- Of the 55 track sessions (Practice One/Two/Three, Qualifying and Race) to have taken place so far this season a Mercedes driver has set the pace on 45 occasions – 82% - and their drivers finished one-two 29 times, including in six races. Lewis Hamilton has topped nearly half the total sessions – 27 – with Nico Rosberg heading 18.

- Alonso is the only driver to both finish and score points in every race so far in 2014. The Spaniard’s total points-paying run stands at 14 races, stretching back to last year’s Abu Dhabi GP. The next-best active run of consecutive points finishes is held by Daniel Ricciardo (nine GPs) after Nico Hulkenberg’s 12-race sequence ended in Hungary.

- Romain Grosjean is the driver most conclusively winning his intra-team qualifying duel, the Frenchman ten-one up on Lotus team-mate Pastor Maldonado. Ferrari’s Alonso and Caterham’s Kamui Kobayashi have outqualified their respective team-mate nine times apiece. Kimi Raikkonen, meanwhile, is the only driver yet to beat his team-mate (Alonso) on race day.

- Hamilton is now the British driver with the most pole positions (35) and podiums (63) after passing Nigel Mansell and David Coulthard’s respective records in the first half of the season.

Jeebus, Vettel has not led a single lap in the entire season? Wow.

It must be his car, give him a good car and he would rip up the stats. No one could get results in that rear downforce lacking RB10.

Mnmracer has more fans than Vettel now.

One of these days when I'm bored I'll go over to a forum that has some ardent Vettel fans contributing and see what their take is on the year's situation is.
