Ok, gotcha. You know 1st world country passport holders can avail of a 72 hour Shanghai entry without the need to get a visa. I'm pretty sure UK qualifies. I've used it (Australian passport). I will find the link and post it later. It's a transit visa so all you have to do is not fly back to the city you arrived from. Otherwise you're all good and it's free

Yes. Had to post off passports. Used the official China site to do it.... There were other sites offering the service, though to be fair to them, no where near as expensive as the price you quoted.

AS promised, here's the 72 hour transit visa that applies for Shanghai.

I can verify that it definitely works (I've used it) and is easy and free.

Have sent travel agent an email about it and for them to change there link, will see if they reply and give me a free holiday !!!
