Jenson looked like the perfect n0.2 until Vettel took him out. It was nice to see. :hehe:

He was playing his part well, backing up the pack for your team mate is always good.

It's the role of the driver...who can't keep up with his teammate. Point taken...

In Button's defence, he did have front wing damage. Hamilton was still faster all weekend but during the race there was obviously something impeding Button's pace.

Yeah - a Red Bull impaled in his side pod...

I am not sure he was doing that on purpose.

I'm 100% sure that is not what Button's intentions were; not sure where he picked up the wing damage but it was slowing him up massively; I believe he would have been right up there with Hamilton if it weren't for the damage that was hampering his car's handling! Jenson is still in the title race; all it takes is one retirement each from Hamilton and Webber and Jenson is suddenly right back in the race with a win, same goes for Vettel and Alonso!

I tried to look back and see where he got the front wing damage and the only place I can come up with is at the start where it looked like he got sqeezed out tight on turn one and may have rubbed up against Kubica or I forget who else went around the outside... Webber or Vettle perhaps? I think it HAD to have been with Kubica though found a picture of the start.

In any case it did cause enough damage, I kept hoping for rain early so he'd be able to come in and swap into wets and change his nose, but hat didn't happen and it was a testament to his driving that he kept the car in 2nd place as long as he did.

Button damaged his front wing during the initial lap at the Bus Stop Chicane, where everybody went wildly wide; Button was trying to overtake Kubica on the inside and the two lightly collided as they went wide together on the extra tarmac.

Actually, I believe the damage was sustained on a kerb a short while after the Safety Car came in. He was right with Hamilton up to that point - he even had a run at him after the restart.

No, it was before the SC for sure.

The 'run at Hamilton' is when Hamilton was just released from the Safety Car, and outbraked himself into Turn 1. From Eau Rouge onwards, he was gone.

You're right, it was before. My bad.

I went back and checked, BBC says it was Lap 13, not at the start. That's obviously not it, McLaren I believe acknowledged it on something like Lap 4, so maybe the BBC meant lap 3? Lap 1 seems too early, he didn't seem to have any trouble pace-wise until after the second lap.

Button damaged his own car. That is what that driving style does.. :hehe:

Anyhoo.. Only the foot part of the end-plate was damaged - not that significant. Rosberg lost a much bigger chunk of his end-plate and he was fine. Button just couldn't excape from the Red Bull; notice he said nothing much of the wing after the race.

On the BBC Forum he did mention it and said he thought he was doing a good job of managing the problem before Vettel took him out. Hamilton was definitely faster all weekend but he wasn't that much faster, the damaged front wing definitely had a large effect on his pace.

As for Rosberg, I don't remember him driving around with a broken end-plate but, even if he was, we can't really know how extensive the damage to either car was and what effect that would have on their pace.

It's funny because you're clearly an idiot :hehe:

Personally I think its horses for courses between JB and LH. Each can (and has) beat(en) the other on occasion. Both are very fast drivers and given how incredibly critical every aspect of setting-up a 2010 F1 car is, there is always a slight element of "luck" in play between them.

McLaren is undoubtedly a "team" effort and it was a stroke of genius on Martin Whitmarsh's part to employ two of the best drivers around to drive IN (not necessarily AS) a team.

Overall I backed Lewis to come closest to winning WDC this year.
Lewis seems to be a demon at "driving around" issues with this year's less than brilliant car, and this gives him the edge sometimes, but its very, very close.
