I just had a thought. I'm thinking that the Australian GP this year is going to be pure chaos.

I'm sure we all remember last year. 6 cars actually finished the race. Mainly due to the heat and dusty track, causing multiple incidents, failures and safety cars. This year though, won't it be worse. Australia is in the middle of a heat wave, bush fires and so on. So the heat this year will be worse. A few teams have already reported probelms with KERS overheating, and thats in a mild climate. So we can expect some car failures. The track will again be dusty, so spins are likely. Plus, these are brand new cars. It will be the first time the cars are ever raced. Drivers won't be as prepared with the larger front wings, slick tyres, and the difference during overtaking. So again, we could see drivers getting too close and knocking front wings and, or we could see them messing up overtakes and causing crashes.

These are just m thoughts. We could have a perfectly boring race. But its fun to think that it could all start going off.

Good point,
Bring it on!!

Hmmmm now who could I see doing that? Kimi - most likely as he was all over the place last year, Piquet - yes, definately, Buemi - maybe, Coulthard - only if somebody forgets to glue him to his chair in the BBC studio. :P

Hamilton. No one mentions him. He rammed Alonso and decided to cruise into the backside of Kimi.

The pitstop thing was kinda not really racing just bit of bad luck with a bit of brain fade.

But Alonso yeh but 1 small shunt in 2 seasons of racing aint bad.

I can never watch the Melbourne Grand Prix. I can never watch a race unless it is aired between 9:00pm and 2:00am. lol.

Kind of sad seeing as it's in my own country. I actually don't like the Melbourne race track. It's really boring. It doesn't have anything spectacularly unique about it, unlike every other grands prix.

The only Australian track with individuality is, of course, Mount Panorama. (I know it's too steep!) But could you imagine the cars rippin' it through the Skyline?

But then, they might want to remove that Dunlop Bridge as well.

Having been to the last 6 Melbourne GP's the weather is a problem. But its not the heat, more a lack of  Last year we were going through a heatwave (not as bad as this year) where South East Australia (Adelaide and Melbourne) were getting 36 - 38 degree days in March. the previous years Melbourne weather was as it usually is in March, and that is alot cooler and what i would call COLD... mid 20's! And the old saying about Melbourne weather is 4 seasons in one day, on moment you need a jacket on the next you need to have a tanktop on. its pretty annoying weather in Melbourne!
So what im trying to say is in a months time Melbournes weather might go back to the way it normally is and that is no different to what the teams were testing in Spain so the heat may not be a problem for the teams that do run KERS. Wouldnt it be funny if no one is running it in Melbourne :hehe:

A1GP boss still considering F1 move

By Jonathan Noble and Dieter Rencken Tuesday, February 24th 2009, 10:37 GMT

A1GP boss Tony Teixeira says his ambitions to run a Formula One team remain alive - after dropping a hint that he is looking at setting up an outfit in Portugal.

The South African businessman has looked at bids for Spyker, Scuderia Toro Rosso and Honda Racing over the past two years, but is now edging towards starting a team from scratch.

He is looking at using land acquired near the Algarve Circuit in Portimao as a base for his A1GP Series – as well as for housing an F1 operation. The ambitious scheme could receive funding from the Portuguese government.

"I've bought 47,000 square metres at the Portimao circuit," Teixeira told autosport.com about his plans for relocating A1 GP. "I've bought that to put up a head office, an A1GP factory with 35 bays and an A2 factory, and restaurants, and the whole merchandising scene."

When asked about the possibility of basing an F1 team, Teixeira said: "The team that I've been looking at would be based (in Portugal) and backed by the Portuguese government.

"If this is going to be such an important racing centre, they have to have an F1 team to compete with. Otherwise it means nothing without F1...The idea is that eventually it could house an A1/F1 office."

Teixeira has also revealed that he had been in talks with Honda Racing as recently as the last fortnight about a takeover deal.

"I was one of the guys talking to Honda in the last two weeks," he said. "We had done a deal on Spyker, but I let Vijay (Mallya) take it….We then went to Toro Rosso in November and all the (other) teams said 'no customer boss' so I had to walk away.

"Today I'm in a completely different situation. I've built my own cars and designed my own chassis. I have my own factory. So I'm not a customer boss. I can now build my chassis and run with a Ferrari engine. I'm now the same as everyone else."

Teixeira said, however, that any involvement in Honda Racing was scuppered by the difficult financial conditions caused by a worldwide recession.

He added: "The only reason we want an F1 team is for the winners of A1 to go to F1. But, because of the times, I cannot commit myself to this year's budget."
