The point i am trying to make is that it is a myth that Button needs perfect balance to win races, not if he is good in the wet or not, that was just an example used to try and demonstrate my point.

Thing is that JB doesnt like understeer, doesnt do oversteer and has said himself he needs a perfectly balanced car to extract the maximum grip and performance. He has said things like ' I cant handle this, this makes me uncomfortable' etc
when the car is balanced and he is confident of not losing it in a corner then he can plant his right foot like others.
Now its true that he can and has won races without a perfectly balanced car, and those are in changeable conditions where its not that he suddenly drives at the limit or hustles round a corner, its more that he is on the right tyres and no one else is etc
So he can win races when car is not perfectly balanced if he is on the right setup for the conditions and no one else is. we saw this at I think the second last race last year, where he was on the right tyre and drove faster than Lewis, but once Lewis was on the right tyres JB got smoked

When its wet and everyones on wet tyres JB dont shine, whereas Senna, Lewis, MS clearly do.

i think Perez will show us exactly how good Button is

At the end of the day, Button is a champion and Perez took a Sauber to 2nd more than once. This is no weak partnership.

There's no way I'm writing them off, just pointing out areas that could be , not strengths. I've said before I think Button has his best chance ever this year. And the same for Perez.

Don't really care who does it as long as mclaren driver will be a contender for the WDC.
Jenson is a very capable driver(he has won a championship and he has proven time and time again that he can win races using his cerebral style).
Sergio is a very promising and hungry driver. He needs to prove that he deserves to drive for a top team.

Um... They have been contenders, just not given the best foundation to contend from by McLaren. Perhaps that will improve this year.

When LH announced he was leaving McLaren, everyone was saying "McLaren will struggle next year, it'll be a two horse race, with Red Bull & Ferrari".

After testing, lots of people are saying McLaren are favourites. I love how the perception changes so easily and so vastly.

The sport is still fundamentally about the fastest car not the fastest driver.

I don't think any perception has changed. McLaren finished last season with the fastest car and some suggest from what they have seen that they may have retained that position. There is just speculation about what they will do with that car.
