Because it is extremely unlikely that in a single race Hamilton would finish first and Rosberg eleventh. Rosberg is winning the season so far, car trouble aside.

lewis is 14 points behind, the difference between 1st and second is 7 points, so you reckon if he had not dnfed and dropped 17 points assuming he came second - reasonanble cos he was actually leading

I don't get what you're trying to say. 14-7 does not equal zero. Therefore Hamilton winning a race doesn't result in a tie, and certainly not winning.

Yes, Hamilton has bad luck, but he makes as many mistakes as he has bad luck. And no, I'm not on drugs. What's with all the accusations for not worshipping the Holy Number Two?

someone who watches F1 cannot work out the a dnf = 0 points, and a second place finish = 17 points,

with a low IQ I can understand why someone would make this mistake of thinking no dnf = only 7 points recovered

It's pretty simple. Rosberg should have another 7 points, meaning that even if Hamilton finished the other race first there would only be a few points difference. But given Hamilton's trouble we can't assume he would finish first.

And that's leaving aside that Rosberg himself has had car trouble leaving him in difficult positions. In terms of the racing Rosberg is doing a better job, it's that simple.

The 14-7 comment was in regards to you yourself mentioning the difference between first and second place points.

Again, Rosberg has had his own troubles. Playing the what if Hamilton had a car blessed by God game is just a fantasy. In the real world Hamilton has messed up just as much as his car has failed.

I extra dnf for Lewis from first/second is a gross loss of 25 or 18 points, so without the dnf , he doesnt regain the 7 points between 1st and 2nd, he regains the 18 points for coming second, and if he came first - he was leading both times - then Nico would have been relegated to second adding another 7 to Lewis' imagined non dnf

SO HE GAINS 25 OR 18 NOT 7 for not dnfing from second or first
