Not sure whats wrong with winning the championship coming sixth anyway, its the same amount of points at the last race as the first ultimately.

It doesn't matter, as you say points are what matters; but that said winning the race to claim the championship is the more glorious way to win a title!

Surely its more glorious to win every race of the season, but thats kinda boring.

Schumi doesnt think so.

True but gesticulating because someone cut you off is slightly different to some beating you fair and square.

Gesticulating for someone that kept you behind for a half a GP.

As far as getting beaten fair and square.. hmm that's a BIG broad statement. Did Jaime beat Massa fair and square... or better yet, did Webber pass Jaime fair and square? Was Petrov ahead of Alonso fair and square? Did Petrov keep Alonso behind fair and square? how come he didnt do the same when he had Lewis behind in Hungary? hmmm fair and square is a very broad statement.

Alonso gesticulated at Petrov because he was angry, frustrated and/or whatever reason... no problem with that; and like i said, very different from BLAMING Petrov from anything, like "some people" want to claim...........

Yup. No problem being a sore loser....... specially under those circumstances. But anyway.. he didnt really blame him for anything. Just gave him some gestures..... no big deal. I would have done the same with some soundtrack as well. :)

"someone that kept you behind for a half a GP" you're meant to overtake if you want to get past, its a race.

"Did Petrov keep Alonso behind fair and square? how come he didnt do the same when he had Lewis behind in Hungary?" cant remember, but maybe lewis can overtake

No I should "oh come on guys" to those who don't think it's a big deal! It's an act of bad sportsmanship no matter which slant you put on it! You would expect better especially for those who claim he is the complete package! It's not understandable to take it out on Petrov as he didn't ruin his race, he and the team did! He should have driven on by Petrov, straight to the pits and shake his fist at the pit wall! That's where you lost it Fernando... The most complete driver on the grid? I don't think so, you have no honour in defeat!

I not arguing that it was bad sportsmanship, it was completely unwarranted but it really has been blown out of all proportion, I'm no Alonso fan but I can see that it's not anything unusual in F1, this issue has only been kept alive by fans arguing on forums and message boards, I haven't heard Petrov mention it since the race, it doesn't bother him, so why is it such a sticking point for some people, all this happened almost two weeks ago; are will going to "debate" this until March?
