Actually the change of the rules is pretty fishy. Whitmarsh said that they had the same hole last year and the size of it was also the same. In the rules they don't say the maximum size of it also.

Looking forward to this race as i always do.. love merlboure. Such a flow to the circuit and is a pleasure to watch and drive (rfactor) :D Hope Webber has a strong performance at his home gp for once.

I always like to see any driver do well in his home race. Webber has a precedent. He finished 5th there in the Minardi in his F1 debut. No pressure! :hehe:

The 2010 event will Rubens Barrichello become the only driver to have started every race at Albert Park since the Australian GP moved to its current home in 1996.

Since 1996, ten winners of the Australian Grand Prix have gone on to win the World Championship.

Albert Park is one of the longest street circuits on the 2010 calendar, second only to the Valencia circuit. However the pit lane is one of the shortest.

I don't have high hopes for this race excitement wise, I've got a feeling the drivers will be too well behaved and we'll get no safety cars and yet another procession. :(

Bad news for McLaren, basically JB has come out and said 'this track should suit our car'... :hehe:

Ohhh no, all have hopes up lol. Well Ferrari normally run a good race here, but some times they have had an abomination of a race. So I'm not sure what to expect from the boys in red really.

Jenson Button has concerns over the Australian Grand Prix's late start time that will see the drivers finishing the race as the sun sets in Melbourne.

The race will start at 5.00pm local time and could run as late as 7.00pm. The later start time was introduced last year to allow the race to be broadcast at a more sociable hour in Europe. It attracted criticism from some drivers who complained of the low sun hindering their visibility, and Button, who won with Brawn in Melbourne last year, said there are still concerns ahead of this weekend's race.

"It sounds petty, but it's not," he told Reuters. "It can be dangerous if you've got the sun in your eyes and you can't see where you're going. But I'd rather be racing in the day, even a twilight race for me, I'd rather that than the night time. Out in front is probably not such a bad place to be [as the sun sets], so hopefully we can put ourselves in the same place and won't have to worry."

Realistically, Button thinks McLaren can challenge for podiums this weekend but is wary of the Bahrain pacesetters.

"I think Red Bulls are very strong, I think the Ferraris are very strong, and then it's probably us," Button said. "But I'm hoping with the circuit change and a few little updates we'll be closer to them and maybe challenging them here.

"The first race for us was difficult. I don't think the car suited Bahrain too well. I think it will suit this circuit better. It's a lower downforce circuit so we have to wait and see. A podium would be fantastic here. I think that has to be the aim. I think it's a possibility and you've got to set your sights pretty high."

Yes, the forecast calls for rain on both Saturday and Sunday for Melbourne. This should make the race much more interesting. I like the rain races, as my favourite driver Jenson Button tends to do very well in them. That, and the rain makes the race much more entertaining. The rain-soaked grand prix at Suzuka in 2007 was one of the most entertaining races I've ever watched.

Dont forget its a twilight race....... if we get any rain delays, plus rain + poor ilumination.... it could be a DNF like last yr's Sepang.

Hope not. That Melbourne track rules.
