Looks like you could hide some shell-launching cannons in the front. Mario Kart here we come!

I thought exactly the same thing as soon as I saw those holes.

they are functional they are the radiators, this car was a GP winner

Yep, Graham Hill won the International Trophy at Silverstone in 1971 and Carlos Reutemann won the 1972 Brazilian GP in it. However, it's still a hideous looking car.

yup. I never really understood how they just decided that they were no-longer a New Zealand outfit and are now British  Obviously Ron Dennis never gave a sh*t about Bruce's legacy. For me under Ron Denis, McLaren have always been too much of a brand.

What are talking about? Bruce McLaren died in 1970. Ron Dennis was not involved with McLaren until 1980, eight years after the team abandoned its orange livery. For your information, Dennis has spoken many times and at great length at his pride in McLaren's history. Furthermore, why don't you take a swipe at other teams for adding sponsors' logos to their cars and changing their liveries in the corporate age? Lotus, for instance, were the first team to introduce sponsorship, and in 1967 (?) painted their car in cigarette branding.

Hi :wavey:
I was wondering when this post might occur.

Anyways, McLaren especially p*ss me off because they got rid of the badge and nationality, basically cutting all ties with the reason they came to exist in the first place. They might as well have just used a new name too.

I've always quite liked the March, couldn't tell you why...

There were some funky looking F1 car's through the years yet I cannot think of one that I thought was ugly. Such a the old saying goes that one person see's an ugly duckling but another person see's a beautiful Swan :) . That analogy may not be the most suitable but it is what came to mind, hope ya understand what I mean.

The Leyton House sponsored cars built by Adrian Newey? Now those were beautiful, and set the benchmark for cars designed during the 3.5 Litre era. :cloud9:

Again you show your ignorance. The logo of which you speak was one of several used by Bruce McLaren alone, and it changed a number of times before Dennis became involved with McLaren. Moreover, the company's logo was never going to remain the same. How many sizeable companies do you of go through the period of time and changes which McLaren have done and are branded exactly the same? Very, very few. You are simply picking a fight where this is not one to be had. Just be honest: say you have an irrational, emotionally-driven hatred towards McLaren and Dennis.

That's rather an exaggeration don't you think? McLaren have traded in their heritage in order to become a more marketable corporate entity. If any team did this, I would be irritated. Just to make things clear, I think McLaren are alright and I think Ron Dennis is alright, their fans can be a bit defensive though.

Okay, so when somebody makes an unfair comment about the team on a discussion board, McLaren supporters should just ignore it? With the possible exception of Ferrari, whom a lot of people (those interested in Formula One and those not interested) dislike because the Schumacher era, there is no team which gets as much flak as McLaren. It's simply not on.

The 2 most successful teams are the 2 most resented, whoever would have seen that coming?

I don't believe they get any more unfair criticism than any other major team, it's just that their supporters seem to be the most willing and able to nurse grievances over it. Have you considered maybe letting things like that go? I mean come on, it's not like your sister's getting slagged off or anything. They are just a company who you happen to to feel some kind of affiliation with. Any defense of McLaren that you feel obliged to undertake is entirely your decision. Any offense taken to valid points made by others against said company is also a product of agency.
