Just found this it's in german but it's saying Alonso has signed a 3yr deal with BMW?

Rumor: Alonso has clean with BMW signed
07. September 2008 - 19:24 clock
in the driver camp by Belgium was to be heard according to medium reports that Fernando Alonso will change Fernando Alonso cleanly to BMW the F1
team amuses itself over the speculations around its person
after information from “car engine and sport” was to be heard in the driver camp from Spa Francorchamps to that Fernando Alonso signed cleanly with BMW the F1 team. The Italian TV-transmitter “Sky” wants to have even found out that the Spaniard signed a three-year contract. The ex world champion had been brought again and again last with a change to Ferrari in the year 2010 in connection.
If the rumor should be correct, then this would mean that either Robert Kubica or nod Heidfeld the team will leave. Both do not have yet a contract for the coming year.

Spaniard news are all about as well.
RK and FA in one team would be great. FA and NH - that would be end of Nick. I don't think he would ever recover.

In light of this, it is also rumored that Nick would take Alonso's place in Renault. I can't believe it though, because lately dr Theissen has been saying they need stability with the next year's new regulations. Unless Alonso would be staying for a few seasons. Well, we will see maybe soon, because it is also rumored  that they will announce their line up after Monza.

From F1 Live:

Fernando Alonso on Thursday did little to ease the flames of speculation that he may be joining BMW Sauber next year.

Asked by reporters at Monza if he would enjoy being Robert Kubica's team-mate, the former double world champion replied: "Robert and I drove together in karts. He is a very good friend of mine."

So can the Spaniard see himself sharing a Formula One team with the 23-year-old Pole? "Why not?" he smiled, according to the German news agency SID.

But Alonso was not giving away any other clues about his possible move from Renault.

"I will decide in the next weeks, possibly in September, what I am going to do," he said.

The more I read about Alonso going to BMW, the more likely it looks. Sorry, DD. :)

The Alonso-Kubica superteam may have alot of benefits for BMW.
Certainly they would have 2 moaners in their team, and that would make them think twice about stopping developing their cars mid season.

Maybe they actually would get on...

Also would stop me having to bring myself to buy a Ferrari Hat if he made the switch (no offence Ferrari Fans, but I'm not Red lol)

If they can keep their drivers in line, they'll have a great chance at winning the constructors' title. The problem with having two good drivers is that you can allow other drivers from other teams into the title race. Unless you have a car that is the outright fastest, you'll be exposed to this.

Aye, well BMW have tended to improve season by season, so who knows where they could be next year.
Then again they could be miles behind... with new Regs. And that would see Alonso and Kubica fighting for that one Ferrari Seat.

They're good friends, sure. I wonder which one will be the first to offer the chance of a Ferrari contract to the other. :hehe:

BMW wait in the wings for Alonso
Sunday 14th September 2008

Now that Ferrari are out of the picture for Fernando Alonso's signature for the near future, BMW have revealed that they are prepared to wait for the former World Champion.

Alonso had been strongly linked with a move to Ferrari in a year's time, but the Scuderia's decision to extend Kimi Raikkonen's contract until 2010 has upset the apple cart.

Honda and BMW are the other two teams who have linked with the Renault driver.

BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen gave Alonso a friendly reminder that they are the fastest team with a vacant seat for 2009.

"There are several people and a few teams who have to make a decision - it is just not necessarily a joint decision," he said.

"We are still evaluating the situation and it is apparent we are the strongest team now which has an open seat for next year, so we will see what happens."

Theissen's comments bode for Nick Heidfeld as BMW have a one-year option on Robert Kubica for 2009, which they will definitely be using.

Theissen also confirmed to Autosport that they would not hesitate to sign Alonso despite his troublesome year with McLaren, but says a decision will only be made once the season comes to an end.

"I am interested in fast drivers generally, but I would prefer not to comment now on individual drivers because we are evaluating it and I would prefer to talk to you when we have a decision," he said.

"We have delayed the decision and it will probably not happen until the end of this season.

"We want to have a decision by the end of the season. But you can stay in bed Monday morning, nothing will happen."

linky

It is weird that he said
"We are still evaluating the situation and it is apparent we are the strongest team now which has an open seat for next year, so we will see what happens."

because if I'm not mistaken Heidfeld still has a valid contract for the next year and they have already extended Kubica's contract for an additional year.
Still, BMW-Sauber delaying their decision about their drivers says they are very interested in Alonso.

Thiessen adores Alonso, so this does not surprise me. Alonso is good at car development, so he will help in allowing the team to progress further. Alonso does not, however, have quite the race pace as Kubica, so I can see Alonso gurning that his teammate is beating him in a car which he has contributed a hell a lot towards.
