What worries me with Massa and to a point Koby, if they can suddenly pull off podiums and great drives because their careers are on the line, then they are not motivated enough to win or be world champions... So why would you want them to drive for you?

Admittedly if you where HRT/Marussia/Caterham you would not mind the experience and knowledge they would bring, but after a year you would of gleened that of them and then drop them.

Kobayashi has been very unlucky to not have a podium so far this year. He qualified well in Bahrain I think, but his car had mechanical issues and he dropped back. Then we all know what happened at Belgium (but I think he's start wasn't so good regardless). So he could have been on the podium 3 times this year.

Massa has just been a flop.

Interesting bit of information. Since the end of the summer break, Felipe has scored more points than anyone other than Vettel.

Edit:

Vettel 93
Massa 56
Button 55
Räikkönen 51
Alonso 45
Hamilton 36
Webber 28
Pérez 19
Rosberg 16
Grosjean 12

Edit: And now I read in another thread someone beat me to it. :(

Montezemolo denies Vettel rumours

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo and Red Bull have denied reports that Sebastian Vettel will join Ferrari at the end of 2013.

Felipe Massa is expected to sign a one-year deal to remain with Ferrari next season, with a BBC report stating that he is a stop-gap before Vettel joins the following season. While rumours that Vettel has a pre-contract agreement with Ferrari have been ongoing for a number of months, the fact that Ferrari allowed Sergio Perez to join McLaren only added to the speculation.

Vettel is under contract until the end of 2014, however, and although Helmut Marko has previously revealed there are performance-related clauses that would allow him to leave, a Red Bull spokesperson told ESPNF1: "Sebastian will for sure be with the team in 2014."

And Montezemolo says he wants a clear number one and number two driver line-up.

"I've always said that I don't want two roosters in the hen-house," Montezemolo told Italy's Rai radio. "I don't like that and it creates instability in the team.

"[I would] rather two drivers who race for Ferrari and not for themselves. I don't want problems and rivalries, which we didn't have between [Michael] Schumacher and [Eddie] Irvine, between Schumacher and [Rubens] Barrichello, between Alonso and Massa or Massa and Schumi or Massa and [Kimi] Raikkonen."

Montezemolo did admit, however, that it was likely Massa would be remaining with the team - a situation he described as "unthinkable" mid-way through the season.

"Undoubtedly, at half-season it was unthinkable to reconfirm Massa; now he's meeting our expectations, tomorrow we'll discuss it and then we'll take the decision. Massa performed very well in Monza and in Japan; it is a Massa reborn. I asked him to come to Maranello tomorrow and we'll discuss it at length, I think that he's always given a lot to Ferrari and that he built a good team spirit with Alonso. I put my stakes on him to gnaw points away from our adversaries".

Montezemolo added that he and Massa have always had "a perfect relationship, I must have talked to him 40 times this year.

"It's true that the features of the car we had at the beginning of the season were such that he couldn't drive it but I always sustained that we needed him to react and from Spa on he started to improve his performance; he knew he could count on the whole team's full support."

I actually feel sorry for Massa....now his boss resorts to name calling. I mean, it's one thing to be a complete b**ch for another driver, but being called a female bird? Come on Luca... :hehe:

Women who have dated too many jerks and want to find a nice whipped guy....just ask for the list of Ferrari's no.2 drivers in recent history. :whip:

I call it Ralf Schumacher syndrome.

Find it pretty funny that everyone is applauding Massa for two good races, when he has been complete and utter crap for the best part of 2 years until now.

Maybe this is a turning point for him; yes he has been poor for the past 18 months but has pulled it out of the fire recently since the start of the second half of the season; since Spa he has scored two fourth places, a second, a fifth and one eighth; which isn't so bad when your more illustrious team mate has only scored three third places, ignoring retirements through no fault of his own. I believe the telling story will be next season; can Massa get out of the box running; if he has another poor season then his time at Ferrari has to end; but that said; it's hard to motivate yourself when you have to play second fiddle to your team mate; I'd not be very motivated in a job if I can't reach my maximum potential because I am forced to play a supporting role!
