Tyres were dreadful this weekend and dangerous. I think maybe Pirelli should ask a team , say someone like Merecedes who actually suffered a failure, to test with their current car.

Well I think Mercedes really put down their detractors. All these people suggesting wild accusations about how much this illegal tyre test has helped them, ridiculous; they clearly learned nothing after then winning 2/3 races and being on the podium for the last.

Gah how can people possibly suggest they learnt something?

If they had indeed learned something it would've been an easy 1-2 at Silverstone since Mercedes would've known exactly when Lewis' tyre was going to go.:twisted:

Yeah, like there are no safety issues with the tires.

They did learn this, Hamilton even said they tested a far better tyre and he's shocked that their not using it. I'm just saying all these people suggesting Merc learnt nothing really need to get out of the bubble.

Also how could Merc and Pirelli possibly learn in Barcelona that a kerb in Silverstone will rip their tyres up, if there are no kerbs to that exact shape at the spanish track then they wouldn't know.

I don't think blaming a kerb in Silverstone is the answer to the current tyre problem.

I'm in no way blaming that kerb, it's probably been like that for years and this issue lies squarely with the tyres.
#364841
We should be thankful to the kerb for highlighting how fragile the tyres have become.

Instead of blaming the kerb, much better than a serious accident being the first time people wake up and realise the trend. There have been delaminations at other circuits caused by other sharp edges this year

So its the tyres at the heart of the problem not the kerb

I agree, I wasn't directing that at you lemon. Just that I've heard the kerb being bandied about and await its appearance in court as the scapegoat.

Sorry your honor, I can't testify as I'm currently stoned. :hehe:

Last word on Mercedes tyre test from me, unless Mercedes turned off their radio/telemetry systems, they would have learnt something from the test and then have a sudden upturn of form?!?!

Clearly there is a safety issue, but the tyre test did nothing to fix these issues it seems, even on the car the tyre was tested on...

...or maybe it's all a conspiracy to 'prove' Mercedes didn't gain an advantage?:wink:
