And so only Ross Brawn remains. Good for Red Bull, they are committed to this long term! Perhaps we're looking at Red Bull and Mercedes being the McLaren and Ferrari of this F1 era?

Who knows... if Ferrari and McLaren could JOIN them, it'd be even better!

Agreed!

Well said Lew!

Very cool WB, I really hope you get even more enjoyment out of this season.

It's a massive relief from seeing quality rise to the top, yes. Next year the competition will be tighter for sure and I've gained quite a bit of respect for Alonso during his stint at the scuderia.

Props to the Bulls, the first team out there to break the Mercedes deadlock. Showing once again they're way more than just a drinks company and a force to be reckoned with for quite some time. I can't dislike this team (only a finger in the team lol) no matter how much they win....for a drinks company they've been mega.

Way more impressive than some other hyped up team somewhere down the midpack called ferrari anyway.

Not a fan of Helmut Marko (Helmet Marco here in America) but this is actually pretty funny back stage stuff. :hehe:
GPUpdate Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko claims Ferrari made "an absurd offer" for design guru Adrian Newey.

Ferrari had denied pursuing the services of Newey, who recently signed a modified Red Bull deal that will see him step away from the Formula 1 team and take on side projects, when quizzed over the matter in recent weeks.

But Marko says there was a firm offer on the table from the Italian marque when Newey's future was undecided.

"We had a long talk with Adrian," Marko told Red Bull-owned Servus TV ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.

"Ferrari made him an absurd offer, not only on the financial side but also on what his responsibilities would be."

Marko added that Red Bull's priority was simply to hold on to Newey, regardless of his future F1 involvement.

"We didn't want to lose him," he said. "That's why we created a situation where he can work on other projects."

Nothing more absurd than what they did with Kimi after the 2009 season.

Dietrich Mateschitz is a real piece of $#@!*&^ work. A small part of me thinks this is just a ploy to get them to up their game a lot quicker. A much larger part of me thinks they're dead serious.

Yeah right! RBR are gonna ditch Renault and go into the engine and ERS making business from scratch and to supply only RBR and maybe TR. And those power units will become better than Renaults by the time the next set of engine regs come in 4 years time?
Merc have shown everyone how to do it - big money. lots of time, and it helps to be a monster manufacturer.

Ferrari will be worried though, as if RBR start making engines that are better than Ferraris, Luca will have to call them 'the drinks company who are good at aero and also making cars and engines'

Marko makes even Luca look thoughtful.

ESPNF1 Helmut Marko says Red Bull is considering its engine options from 2016 onwards and suggests the team could even manufacture its own in an attempt to bridge the gap to Mercedes.

Red Bull's partnership with Renault, which has claimed the last eight titles in F1, continues until next year but has not matched the success of previous seasons in 2014, with Mercedes dominating the early days of the sport's hybrid era. Renault has been playing catch up with its power unit since the winter but still appears to be lacking in horsepower to the Mercedes engine, a lingering source of frustration in the Red Bull garage.

Motorsport boss Marko suggests Red Bull's fortunes at its home grand prix this weekend will influence any decision made.

"We will have a look at where the engine is standing after this weekend and then we will see what we can achieve with this engine," Marko told Sky Sports F1. "If we don't see a possibility to be on a same level with Mercedes then we will have to look for alternatives."

Marko says one of those alternatives could be a bespoke Red Bull engine but rules out becoming a Mercedes customer after 2015, with Honda also making an F1 return next season.

"We will not be asking Mercedes. But there are a lot of very skilled companies concerning engines. AVL is 70 kilometres from here. You should never say no. We are looking at all alternatives."

Marko's comments came after Horner told Sky Sports F1 that Red Bull's relationship with Renault was reaching a "pressure point".

Respect to RB if they indeed go for an endeavour like this. Shows some serious long term commitment to Formula 1 and motorsports in general...and not at all bad for a drinks company killing people slowly by the masses with their canned poison. :hehe:
