The comment about Perez being too inexperienced from Luca Di Montezemolo sound telling, assuming it was sincere.

I believe that comment was political, aimed more at Carlos Slim/Telmex...

I don't see any changes at Williams personally.

I think they'll drop senna and want to keep maldonado. they know he has great qualifying and race pace when he can exercise the self control. add his funding in and if they get him to quit $#!@ing up, they'll want him around. plus he drove quite gracefully today in singapore so he showed that he can still handle himself without being all crazy

Yes as in how many more sponsorship millions does it take to buy experience.

Señor Slim didn't become one of the world's richest men by being a business pushover. IF that deal happens, how long do you think before we're got a GP of Mexico on the calendar... 2015?

Money aside, I believe Maldo to be the better driver when he tames the beast. Senna just hasn't gone too well this season and there are better drivers out there.

Alguersuari is setting himself up for a return to F1 racing.

Interesting... The nice question is, with which team?

Toro Rosso, Sauber, Williams, the Green ex-Lotus... Hmmmm

Maldonado has the talent but is a little bit erratic, but other world champions have been like that (he reminds me a little of Hakkinen pre-Adelaide 95) - Maldonado can be worked wit and his erratic driving can be reduced/ got rid of.

It can also mean that Alonso has stated pretty clear (possibly in contract?) that he is not going to be teaching anyone. Perhaps some reasons behind Piquet and Massa being so off is that he keeps everything to himself.

So Ferrari probably knows they can't count on him "helping" an inexperienced driver come to terms.

Massa wasn't an inexperienced driver, he had been at Ferrari longer than Alonso.

Exactly. So its understandable they want someone with experience. At times it looks as if Alonso and Massa are driving different cars.

Other teams may be sharing more info; so if Massa is having a hard time getting the car to work for him... someone with less experience will find it even harder; considering its been tough enough to do it within a team, let alone each guy on his own.

Ferrari surely do share data, and have joint driver briefings, although unlike McLaren I think Ferrari and their drivers will make the decisions more independently, Alonso will still have private discussions with his side of the garage. I don't think Ferrari can get a driver more experienced in that sense than Massa, as he ought to be able to handle making the decisions, I think what Ferrari want is a more flexible driver than Massa, who will have to deal with Alonso cherry picking and having priority on design choices etc, doesn't need to be babied - which does come with experience, but also a confidence that I don't think Massa has fundamentally. Look at his relationship with Smedley, very "soothing", Massa started to achieve in Ferrari because the team supported him deeply, taking the time out to listen to him, work with him etc. Schumacher mentored him, Kimi wasn't too fussed and was beginning to turn his mind away from F1, but Alonso out works and out demands attention at Ferrari, which Massa needs to succeed (relatively more than other F1 drivers).

The team obviously supports him, i guess the whole accident thing cemented his personal connection to the team. But you're right, i think the Ferrari drivers are more independent in their stuff... Even in the Kimi era.

So i guess there's part of their reasons to keep Massa and probably why they mentioned the whole Perez is inexperienced thing.

That's what i mean tough. They are lookin for someone who can figure things out on their own. Probably because Alonso has his position pretty clear regarding mentoring anyone, and the team also expects this sort of independence.

I think Felipe needs a bit more babying too... Alonso has taken waay too much attention at Ferrari. He's obviously the one getting the room-with-a-view at hotels hehe
