Really, are we still talking about Martin Whitmarsh, what he says has nothing to do with Lewis' poor performances this season, Lewis has admitted that his head was not in the right place to go racing, too many distractions in his personal life. Martin Whitmarsh has simply told it like he saw it, simple as that, no doubt if Ron Dennis was interviewed he would have been singing Lewis' praises all season long. So what if Martin Whitmarsh favours Jenson personally, both drivers have been given equal opportunity, I think that this season will make Lewis stronger, being beaten by his team mate for the first time will bring him down to Earth with a bump and make him a stronger driver, I look forward to seeing JB and LH going head to head next season!

Yes. We're talking about Martin Whitmarsh. I wasnt talking about Lewis' poor performances. I was talking about Whitmarsh trying to make the last race into some big intra-team battle. Why? Jensons won that battle-driven well. lewis has had a nightmare. Martin can stop now but no, he has to keep needling. If Lewis wins the last race and its four three to him....so what. Jens has won that battle. He's in a win win situation. If Jens wins the last race its more salt in the wounds that isnt necessary. If others want to make a thing of it so be it. As team manager Martin should know better. he probably does, he probably knows very well what he's doing, thats why he'd doing it.

Maybe if Lewis is getting such a raw deal from his team principal he should change teams. I am sure he would fit right at Red Bull r

I dont think he's getting a raw deal exactly. Just having to put up with poo! But he's getting better at putting up with poo. I think he'd be better at Mercedes than Red Bull, but we've debated that before so lets not go there again. Id like to slap Whitmarsh every time he starts...bit like training pavlov's dogs........... :coffee: its ok, just found the decaf.

Red Bull? Nah, that team are tarred by the Ferrari brush when it comes to equility within their driver line-up. Just ask Mark Webber to recall 2010. Hamilton is a proper racer, he has no time for inter-team hierarchies. :P

Ever considered that Martin Whitmarsh is trying to fire up both his drivers to have a real ding-dong battle in the last race as the McLaren clearly have the pace to win races outright now...

If what he said after India about Lewis having been affected by Jenson's good form was a firing up mechanism, it worked brilliantly wouldn't you say?

No. I think whatever he wanted to achieve with his post India blab backfired and Martin is now spitting nails. Sorry, but he's really under my skin at the moment.

You mean intra-team hierarchies?

From a team manager's point of view, he's only after wins. I think he doesn't care if its Jenson or Lewis who takes it, he just wants results....and Lewis has readily admitted he's not been up to par this year and we saw Martin's comments about Lewis in Abu Dhabi. As stated - results is all that matters.

Personal demons within Lewis or Jenson isn't the boss' problem, its for them to sort out. Martin would love to get the last win available for 2011 to gear up for 2012, and if he is turning up the heat intra team, so be it! A little bit more pressure on 2 guys, so that 100s more back at the factory will work that much harder...makes sense to me.

Racechick, dont forget Jenson stated himself he cares more about wins than being 2nd in the WDC. And Lewis is the same, he cares more about Championships than coming in the first, second, third loser. I'm sure Lewis getting more wins than Jenson will prove a statement (though I don't think there's much to be proven...except to get back on form)

Don't talk logical now, this whole MW claim is getting more and more into the realm of lunacy.

What do you mean "getting"? I thought it was well and truly there!

I just see a team manager trying to spur his drivers on to be their best. Previously, in the past he's been congratulating one driver and asking for more of the same and with the other he's been trying to support and get them to return to their previous form. Now he's congratulating both and creating a bit of competition between his drivers for the final race of the season.
