Since when is giving someone a hand gesture = blaming that person for losing a championship?

Its the same case with Alguersuari... Massa could have very well given him a couple hand gestures. Doesnt mean anything, except... F-you, thanks for that. I hope your bosses do give you the raise they promised, and of course, nobody is going to question the fact this is A RACE... people are SUPPOSED TO RACE... hmmmmm. Where is that argument now??

Are you serious? You seriously think Alonso was intending his little display to be in good will?

Alonso didn't have any reason to be gesticulating at Petrov really, the Russian did nothing wrong, but I understand Alonso's reaction. We all overreact to situations in the wrong way sometimes in the heat of the moment and live to regret it later, I believe Alonso's gesticulation was simply that! His gestures have been blown out of all proportion, how many times during the course of the year do we see drivers gesticulating at other drivers out of frustration, hell I do it every day when driving!

True but gesticulating because someone cut you off is slightly different to some beating you fair and square.

Like you said you can understand the first scenario even out on the public roads, alot of bad drivers out there lol.

Does gesticulating at other drivers really ever achieve anything? It's the same in F1; it happens and in most cases it's forgotten about in a few hours! Alonso's actions were not needed, Petrov did beat him fair and square as you say but we are still arguing about it when Alonso and Petrov have probably forgotten about it!

Seems like the only problem is with the fans. Should Alonso be pissed he lost? YES. Did he deserve to lose because he didn’t get the job done? YES. Would I have rather Alonso won than Vettel? Probably… Am I happy that Vettel won? Yes.

What’s the big deal? Crazy stuff happens in racing all the time. As the drivers like to remind us in their interviews when asked about a DNF because someone forgot to remove an engine inlet cover, or a transmission blows, or they get run off by someone in the firt corner etc., etc. … the say “well that’s racing”… Should they be pissed off about it when it happens? YES! But that’s racing!

Vettel won fare and square and Alonso lost fare and square! And as far as I can see all the drivers have handled it just fine. It’s just the fans that haven’t. But having irate fans go off about every little thing… that’s racing too I guess.

And let me just add this. I don’t like Lewis Hamilton. I pretty much root against him every race and ALWAYS want Button to beat him. I'm a Ferrari fan and have been rooting for Alonso and Massa all year.

But you die hard Alonso fans really shouldn’t be whining about the fact that Alonso should have come in 6th instead of 7th to win!! What kind of victory is that? The most exciting finish to an F1 season in years, and your mad that your guy didn’t finish 6th?!? That’s no way to win a championship, how lame would that have been? 3rd in qualif and then 6th in the race and woohoo he is world champ!?!?!

Vettel brought it all year and he won in style with poll in qualif and #1 on the podium in the final race when he was behind two other guys! He deserves it and Alonso choked.

Yeah party in the streets because I guy finished 6th in one on the most exciting F1 final races in history... That would have been great…. (rolls eyes)

He would have needed to come in 4th. 6th would have just gotten the tifosi harassing Robert Kubica instead.

Not sure whats wrong with winning the championship coming sixth anyway, its the same amount of points at the last race as the first ultimately.

It doesn't matter, as you say points are what matters; but that said winning the race to claim the championship is the more glorious way to win a title!

Yeah, if FA had gotten it with a 4th place, wouldn't he have to be called an Inglourious Basterd then?
