Clearly we can compare Korea with Abu Dhabi. We have the dry practice sessions to look at, even though the grip levels were different. Hamilton is in a good chance to finish on the podium. I do not think Alonso qualifying second is a great probability.

The Red Bulls cannot be beaten unless they have a technical problem or a gaff. And the drivers will swap if Alonso is third or fourth.

I think realistically, Alonso qualifying on hard tires would be the key. He can have a long first stint and get some clean air and put all the Red Bulls on edge, switching to options with 15 laps to go, and probably pulling out in third. The Red Bull drivers will switch and Vettel will be put under pressure from Alonso. Vettel might put in the drive of his life.

However, qualifying on hards, Alonso might only end up making it as high as 5th on the grid.

What do you guys think? Am I the new Christian Horner?

I am a member of McLaren for a few years now. I have been invited to their technology centre, Toured their factory. ive eaten lunch in there with team members. But i wouldnt say WE when referring to myself and McLaren.

I guess youre ignoring the straights at AD? Was the question which track is "identical" to or was it looking for a comparison? IMO Singapore is the best comparison to AD, followed by Germany.

Singapore lacks the long long straights, Even Valencia isnt exact in comparison. But Germany isnt a street track so its characteristics wont be the same, although the layout might be. Korea has the long straights so that is also a fair comparison Azza.

For sure the Bulls will be super competitive, but don't discount Fernando. No matter how much some people here don't like him and try to talk down his abilities, he is a great driver.

Fernando does have one advantage - he is the only driver with his destiny and chances in his own hands. If he wins or comes second, irrespective of what any other driver does, he will be WDC.

Thats just F'ing wrong and uncalled for and you know it. Why do you keep feeding the fire between the teams fans, your bigger than that .You of all people know that all your dealing with is newbies to the sport who think their 3-4yr's opinion is more prudent/relevant than your and my numerous decades of F1 experience.

I know dealing with ignorance on a daily basis is very frustrating yet as you know some of us Tifosi are not the norm so thats the only reason I felt compelled to reply .

I couldn't watch Abu Dhabi last year. Just saw an onboard lap by Lewis Hamilton on the track to see what it's like and almost felt like sleeping after that one lap. It's like driving on a glorified parking lot.

I think one of Fernando's best attributes is that he's able to take a car that is not so good, grab it by the horns, and make things happen. Not saying that the current Ferrari is a bad car, but if for some reason it had a disadvantage in this race compared to McLaren or Red Bull, Fernando would extract the last drop of performance of his car and be able to put up a good fight.

At the risk of repeating myself too often, whoever thinks Alonso is not one of the top three drivers right now, is simply delusional.

And yes, I'm a Lewis Hamilton fan. But I ain't blind.

I agree with myownalias, I cant see anyone else winning other than a Redbull. But I think McLaren will be closer to Ferrari here so Lewis and Jenson might play into Vettels hands.
