I'm suprised that not as many people have jumped on the HD bandwagon as people expected. I would love to watch things in HD but it's just so damn expensive and still isn't supported by most channels.

You kidding? HD is considered a roaring success by the industry. That's why they've gotten all big-headed and decided that people will actually pay for 3DTV, despite its cost being astronomical, and do so soon*

*In case you were wondering: No, people won't.

I meant the consumers, people who watch it at home rather than broadcasting companies. Well that's true actually, most major channels do support it just not all the programs are viewable as of yet in HD.

I've tried looking but didn't find any "official" news on this.

Lots of websites saying "likely" "confident" "probably" but nothing in dammed black and white print on F1.com that says we are broadcasting in HD beginning in the 2011 season.

That's quite harsh. She's filthy rich and famous, and she does have a huge fanbase for her music. I'm not in it, but there's no music which appeals to all. Would you prefer to be in her position, or sitting in front of a PC calling someone else a skank?

YAY, this is as official as it gets.

Formula One fans can look forward to watching television coverage in High Definition this year after Formula One Management announced that all broadcasters will receive an HD feed for 2011.

From the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix in March, coverage of all 20 rounds - including all practice sessions and support events - will be originated in HD, with the international feed then offered throughout the world at a data rate of 42 Megabits/second (MPEG-2).

A number of major broadcasters have already confirmed that they plan to show 2011 races in HD, with many other channels expected to follow suit before the season gets underway.

The news follows extensive research, development and investment by FOM to ensure the best possible HD offering for its global TV audience, which is currently in excess of 500 million unique viewers annually.

The most technological advance racing in the World with billions invested and now some of us is barely getting the HD signal  , that in itself is a joke. Glad F1 is in HD in the US, there's nothing like watching the Singapore night race in 1080HP 240HZ.
