its def a fair question, i switched off for a fair few races during the MS era

For me enough was enough after the 2004 Australian GP. I kind of regret it though now because 2005 looked a lot better from what I've seen, because it wasn't until a boring mid-summers afternoon in 2006 when there was nothing on TV and I was waiting for the Football season to start (my priorities were horribly wrong back then :( ) and I was flicking through channels to see the Hungarian GP was on, so I decided to watch for old times sake... but it was well worth it, and I have never looked back since that day. :)

And I switched off when he left :hehe:

i liked it when he had competition

my most engrossed year was when alonso was up against MS for the title

To be honest other sports had taken over my weekends so I never got to follow that battle properly. 97-00 were great seasons though. I stopped completely in 07 and 08 until I'd found someone new to support.

im like you, cant really watch unless i have a team i wanna support

I havn't looked back through the six pages of this thread, but surely thats a bit of a stupid question as were on a formula one forum

Then I suggest you start reading as I did before making judgement's about one's opinion  . Oh and that was not a question it was an opinion ie statement.

When refueling came in I was gutted didn't think it would ever be the same again. After a time I grew to like it and think I now prefer it,but would never stop watching it as it's going back.

Tyre stops are always interesting anyway. It will encourage people to go for gaps and overtake, but at the same time have to protect their tyres more.

Haha, yeah same, i missed pretty much all of that season too apart from Monaco and Brazil. Against my better judgement though, cause there were still some good races despite MS's dominance, Spa and Monza spring to mind.

Oh yeah 2002, can't actually remember if i watched any races or not (apart from Monaco again) cause the entire season was so forgettable... :hehe: No Hakkinen to fight Schumacher so that was annoying, plus the Ferrari was the best car by miles, and then you had MS on the podium EVERY BLOODY RACE. :irked:

I do remember switching off Monza 2002 when Ralf went out and Montoya's car developed a problem right on the same lap leaving the Ferraris all on their own. Apparently tonnes of viewers switched off at that moment as well.

No matter what happen's I'll be watching, sorry about being an arse also :) .

It's a texas thing...is to be expected. That and you are a rice burner fan. With those two things going for you, I'm surprised anyone likes you at all.

/ducks and runs.

:drink: Cheers Tex!

I think I'll watch - I don't have anything better to do.

But procession races and I might just start turning off.

Well, you'll be forced to watch to the end because next season you'll never know whether or not somebody runs out of fuel :P

What I want to know is why was this thread ever created in the first place?

Where are we? An F1 forum. Formula One is simply not a flavour of the month, like a social networking site or a cyber pet, it is a long term investment made by any serious fan.

If you are proper fan of the sport then you will always continue to stick with it. I have never once considered relinquishing my interest in Formula One.

Over my years following and watching Formula One my favoured driver has never always won, infact quite the opposite. Rule changes have come and went, but I've never lost my enthusiasm.

Formula One is more than a sport. It represents so much to so many people. Stripped down to the bone it is purely a livelihood for so many - the unsung heroes.

I never find races boring because I find a Grand Prix to be more than solely focusing on overtaking on track. There are a number of other features during the race.

Fastest laps, time gaps, strategies, track temp changes, pit and paddock shenanigans and of course the continued scandals which break throughout the sport.

If you don't find Formula One interesting because it lacks action or drama then that is your opinion. I can't understand why people believe that to be the case, but again I'm very much indoctrinated within the sport.

In my opinion Formula One is never dull be it on track or off track. Some may tire of the off-track exploits of some teams and the Governing body, but people must understand that it is a fundamental part of motor racing.

It is key to the sport, just as key as the actual cars on the circuit. Having spent many hours of my life sifting through (and hell i'll have alot of that to do in these next few months) the sport's glorious history I've never yet found an era where there has been harmony within Grand Prix racing.

Infact I quite like the odd scandal or great stand off because I think that when they end, Formula One moves on and in a way improves.

In a way they are good for the sport and its fans.
Although sometimes I feel that both fans and the media take it too far in their pursuit of information, it is good to have something to talk about - and there is always something to talk about in Formula One.

Places like this forum would not exist without these scandals, so don't be too quick to claim that F1 is too political nowadays, it always has been and always will be.

If people do not like what F1 represents, then they can easily find something else to support.
