Apparently, Toyota have actually lodged an appeal. We'll see how it goes. I'm trying to find some footage of it happening - there's bound to be some, somewhere.

What about the "security cameras"?

Or the same guy who had footage from Fuji when Vettel ran into Webber and just coincidentally happens to be at the right place in Melbourne? :P

Speaking of which, why do people still blame Vettel for that?

This was interesting to read.

Trulli: No choice but to pass Hamilton

By Pablo Elizalde Sunday, March 29th 2009, 12:09 GMT

Jarno Trulli said he had no choice but to overtake Lewis Hamilton in the incident that cost the Italian his third place at the Australian Grand Prix.

Trulli finished in third position for Toyota, ahead of Hamilton, but the FIA stewards gave him a 25-second penalty after the race, deeming he had overtaken the McLaren driver while the safety car was on track.

The disappointed Toyota driver, who had started the race from the pitlane, claimed Hamilton left him with no choice but to overtake him.

"I can't say how disappointed I am to finish third but have the result questioned," said Trulli.

"When the safety car came out towards the end of the race Lewis Hamilton passed me but soon after he suddenly slowed down and pulled over to the side of the road.

"I thought he had a problem so I overtook him as there was nothing else I could do."

Team boss Tadashi Yamashina, whose team had already being sent to the back of the grid over a technical infringement, admitted today's penalty was very frustrating.

Yamashina was nonetheless encouraged by his team's performance.

"This is an extremely frustrating way to finish a challenging weekend," he said. "Already we were disappointed to be starting from the pitlane after we were informed yesterday about the problem with our rear wing.

"We responded to that in a fantastic way and we showed that our car has genuine performance."

If that's the case, they should probably (attempt to) appeal against it. I know that Lewis' was thrown out, but it would be worth an attempt, surely?
I thought you were not allowed to appeal. Like they take it all the way to Paris just to tell the team they cannot appeal similar to what happened to McLaren last year!

Oh, is that how it ended up? :/

I personally want to see footage. It should be a clear matter of, if Lewis slowed down Jarno has the right to drive past. If he didn't then Jarno is in the wrong.

Unfortunatly we missed that, but shouldn't the FIA have footage from on-board and Truili and Lewis. If so, its a clear descision and there shouldn't be any need for all this fannying around.

Actually, that isn't the case at all. If Lewis slowed down, then Trulli should have too. Button bunched up all the drivers behind the safety car, by slowing down, does that mean everybody has the right to overtake him? Nope.

Having seen some of the silly decisions by the stewards last season, then Toyota are fools for not giving the place back. I very much doubt any more will come of this - appeal or no appeal. Fate A Compli me thinks.

If Button carried on at safety car-pace, but Hamilton slowed down massively, then no, Jarno should not have slowed down at all.

Speaking of Safety car... there was some mess with the Safety car today wasn't there? Especially the first time round.
Some drivers hadn't read the rules!

But Button, like most drivers that are about to restart after a safety car, wasn't driving at safety car pace was he? When Button restarted the race, where was the safety car? He hardly out-ran an F1 car did he? Button let him disappear into the distance and bunched the cars up, slower than the safety car pace - but nobody was allowed to overtake him whilst the safety car was still 'out'. That includes JT.

It happened way before the safety car was due to come in.

Trulli basically got disqualified then, what a complete load of crap. He isn't stupid, so why would he have passed Hamilton under the SC for no good reason?

Hey, it was a great show. Everybody got their money's worth except the red team fans---ha ha!!
You are not a very good sport are you?

Doesn't look that way does it - how lame. The boot will most likely be on the other foot very soon anyway and i doubt we'll see that guy around when Hamilton isn't doing well.

Toyota have had such a bad weekend. Their diffuser being protested against, being disqualified from qualifying and having to start from the pit lane, then having such a great race from the back of the grid to the front of it only to be penalised once again. I really do hope that, should the penalty stand, it isn't true that Hamilton slowed down. Otherwise I'll be annoyed with the stewards who, apart from (potentially) this decision have been superb all weekend.

Yeah, it's a shame but at least Toyota look very handy for the future, they're probably faster than Ferrari and pretty much on par with RBR, so hopefully amends can be made next weekend.

I hate the time penalty I feel bad for JT now because he has ended up 12th instead of 4th they should of got rid of it when Hamilton got demoted from 1st to 3rd at Spa if you gained 1 place illegally you lose 1 place not loose multiple places.

Regarding JT, I don't really feel sorry for his team, however I feel a *bit* sorry for him. He should have given the place back and if even if he didn't know, his team should have told him.

Regarding Lewis's drive, whilst he is an arrogant div at times, and I will always dispise his desicion to be a tax dodger from the country that has made him, it was a belting drive and he deserves the podium.

Regarding TheOak.....be quiet mate, you either know sh*t diddly about F1, are blind, or you are just a chicken. Either way, you have seriously embarrassed yourself with your comments and even the most vehement McLaren/Lewis hater wouldn't bother defending that rubbish you have spouted.

Heh, don't tell people to be quiet, especially over the internet...mate.
My main point was that he was very lucky to get a podium and if you read the comments some believe luck had absolutely nothing to do with his podium, which is a ridiculous statement. The part about "conservative" was my initial reaction to it because he was almost out of sight most of the race.

Man, if I started over reacting, like you guys do, to anything bad said about the drivers I support(KR, HK)I'd be in every second thread calling people parasites and all kinds of names.
