It's not a surprise really. Spain has a racism problem.

I think the Chinese may have spent a bit too much on infrastructure & the opening ceremony & skimped a bit on the translators :banghead:

Here is a real story which could be called "Lost in translation". A family went over to China and paid to take their dog with them. They went out for a meal and asked the waiter if he could provide something for the dog to eat. The dog was taken away and cooked and the family ate it not finding out about the misunderstanding of their request untill later.:eek::eek: Its true.

Thats gross. Why the hell would you want to take your dog anyways?? I've always hated it when people bring their dogs everywhere.

Poor Doggie
Bit silly of them to take their dog to a country where people eat them, it would be like taking my guinea pigs to Peru or my Horses to Italy

Camon now, I think we just misunderstand the Spanish. They are not racist, they are great people. The basketball team was just doing a jokingly jesture. Its not like anyone else has never made those kind of jokes before. I am sure it happens in England all the time. And on something I noticed a the other night while I was waiting to play tennis, a group of Australians being the biggest racist pigs ever. Making fun of the Chinese and further more of an Australian with an Asian name and also another Australian with a Greek name saying things like "How can they be Australian". Now that is racist and really infuriated me, not the stupid jokes of the Spanish basketball team.

I don't mind getting up early, but even if I don't our TV puts much of their broadcast on their site as a streaming video, so I can watch it later, which is really cool, because often I cannot watch two events at the same time, obviously :)
Earlier I was watching volleyball match between Russia and Brasil, which was pretty good, and now our guys are playing against Serbia.

If that is the case, GO POLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What about in, um...Veneto*, is it? Pastissada de Caval?

*My knowledge of the regions of other countries is poor, so forgive me if that's not how you spell it :P

But, you know, there are plenty of countries where it is quite normal to eat the meat of a horse. Austria, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Sweden all do. And, to be honest (and I know Han's going to hate me for this :/), they have the right idea. It's quite nice stuff.

Now, on to the Olympics... I've been quite impressed by a number of efforts, but the one that I really enjoyed was the men's synchronised springboard dives, with those two guys from Ukraine taking the bronze. That said, all of the diving was good and I'm quite enjoying the badminton, too. :)

Oh it happens in England! It is usuually restricted to the playground (where its stamped out quickly) or complete morons. However Prince Philip once notoriosly refered to the Japenese as "slanty-eyes". Mind you Prince Philip would fit in to the 'moron' category!!

Well I don't eat horse, and neither does my family who is mostly Slovenian. Eitherway it doesn't matter as you are right horse meat is clean meat and infact better than pork. So they say. I just didn't like the generalisation made by Hannah and the fact that she clearly made it in a negative way towards Italians.
