f1ea, the whole point of FA's being fed up at McLaren is that RD runs a clear equal statue rule for his drivers... always has, and always will..

besides.. Webber, Fisi, or Barrichello? i don't think so...

Button or Heidfeld, maybe, for their experience..

but if RD goes for an ideal partner for LH, it'll probably be Kibica, Sutil or Rosberg, if he can prise FA and one of the above out of his contract...

but that's just my opinion.. FA'll probably be there next year, causing problems and stressing every time he doesn't win.

McLaren the obvious best car? He didn't know that when he signed. He did know about the obvious best salary though...

Alonso signed for McLaren at the end of 2005, in which season McLaren did have the best car. Although the Renault was strong, Alonso had doubts as to whether or not the team could keep its form for much longer. Alonso does not love Renault or its staff, he loves whoever gives him the car and support to win, and he feels McLaren are not giving him the latter.

He still didn't know how McLaren would fair this season and he must have sweat quite a bit during last season when McLaren wasn't that hot.

and he's been sweating this season because he's not being treated like the god he thinks he is...

he's being beaten by a rookie who is being treated equally...

whats worse for him though?? equal treatment (he's been uncontested no.1 at reanult despite his bitching to the contrary last year).. or being beated by a rookie??
:D

That was probably the case but he didn't expect McLaren to go from winners to w**kers! Nor did I. I felt that after a pretty food 2005 season, the team would be able to build on that form and have another good year in 2006. That's thing with McLaren now, you don't know what you are going to get. If you take how the spying scandal may affect the team, McLaren having a good 2008 season is by no means guaranteed.

Very true. Roller coaster comes to mind. Well, a talent like LH might be able to smooth things out a bit and get them through their next performance nadir.

It is impossible for 2 drivers to be totally equal. On one hand you have only 1 pit space at a time, and its implications on race strategy, and on the other you have the human aspect, which is also very important. Driver equality is just politics talk.

About Mclaren having the best car.. well, I am sure when Alonso sat down to discuss possibilities Mclaren must have shown him some promises and possibilities regarding their abilities for this year. They were at the top from the very get-go, so they must have had some ideas (unless Mclaren has been good this year ONLY because Alonso joined)... also.. Maclaren has always had a good fast car, what they always lacked were consistent drivers (Kimi is great, but not very consistent). Alonso was extremely consistent last year, and this year Lewis... well, he has been the most consistent driver this year (even though he has been somewhat weak at some races and spots), and this is why they are the leading team.

As for Mclaren promises for next year, that's what I mean about their case being difficult, it will be harder than say last year after all the controversy, and the fine and so on... to be able to offer a consistent package/promise for a big gun next year. Plus the #2 issue.. no matter what Dennis or anyone says, this will be difficult.

... and about Barrichelo, Fisichella etc.. that was just a joke.... But Heidfled or Rosberg... quite possible (Kubica is already secured for 08 with BMW), and Rosberg seems set with Williams.. so maybe Heidfeld in MO.

I believe that Heidfeld already signed a new contract with BMW-Sauber.

^^ oh so Heidfeld is set for BMW, I wasnt aware.

Well... then yes, maybe Button. He's got experience, 'compatibility' with the Brits, and will probably be OK with being #2 as long as he is finally in a winning team...

But Alonso will not race with Lewis, and viceversa, and Mclaren is not happy with Alonso, and viceversa... so... a contract? that's what lawyers are for.

JB being the perfect example of what a contract is worth these days in F1 - little more than your daily toilet paper.

i don't know about that..

look at the trouble JB had earlier in his career... most contracts tend to be pretty watertight now.. and there is the contract recognition borad to worry about..

but they do tend to have performance clauses (not likely to be any good in this case), and buy out-clauses..

i just hope there is one to get the little spanish git out so McLarren can concentrate on LH and whoever replaces FA next year..

maybe they can tell him to f**k off to prodrive..

maybe the wording on his contract says he must drive a McLaren car, but not for the McLaren team.. then they can send him over there and Dave Richards can deal with the little spanish git.
