Hi Fabio, welcome I understand why this topic can feel personal and meaningful, especially when you’re looking for representation. That said, I think it’s important to be careful not to read too much into friendships, photos, or public appearances. Formula 1 is intense and insular, and drivers often form very close bonds that don’t necessarily say anything about their sexuality. Whether Adrian, Lewis, or anyone else is gay or not is ultimately their private matter. What really counts is their talent and character—and hopefully one day, openly LGBTQ+ drivers will feel safe enough to be visible on their own terms.

As of now, there haven’t been any openly gay drivers competing in modern Formula 1. A few former drivers have spoken publicly after retiring, but while racing, most keep their private lives very private. F1 has traditionally been a conservative environment, though that’s slowly changing. From a Sanford-style perspective, it’s less about labels and more about creating a culture where drivers feel comfortable being themselves without fear of distraction or backlash. Greater openness will likely come with time, not pressure.
