Di Resta suffers a very similar tyre failure to Lewis' in Bahrain, delamination of the right rear....so whats Pirelli's answer now? "Debris" again?

F**kers, you're supposed to make tyres which wear off and offer no grip, not screw up competitors' cars/race weekends.

Yeah that tyre looked awful! Getting stupid now with tyres.

Looks like Redbull is the only team which could stop an Alonso win this weekend. Unless Merc are running heavier, but a podium is still on the cards for sure. Will be an interesting weekend!

Exactly, regardless of if you like how the tyres are artificial, and if you like or dislike a driver, it isn't right that your race could be ruined by poor quality control of Pirelli.

Goodyear and Bridgestone had plenty of tyre failures and Pirelli don't really stand out as having an excessive amount. The thing to remember is that Pirelli have made what they have been told to make, not what they want to make and these tyres are very much in development whilst a more agreeable compound is sought. Had there still been in-season testing all these failures would be happening in private however, all testing is now having to be done in public during practice sessions all failures will be seen by everyone and look worse than they really are.

Button

"There are some positives to the balance of the car and there are some negatives," he said. "The problem in this sport is that you've got to move forward in every race. We have moved forward but I think everybody has.

"We haven't had the new front wing on the car and we are not sure we will this weekend. There's a lot of data to go through and things to change to see what's working and what is affecting our balance. There are some positives with the balance but there are areas we need to improve on and they are areas I didn't think we'd have to [work on]."

He added: "I think you'll see four teams that are very competitive at the front and I don't think we'll be one of them. We should be just behind."

Button said one positive the team had taken away from the first two practice sessions is a closer correlation between data from the wind tunnel and the track.

"There's a much better correlation with the car and the wind tunnel from now on," he said. "I think it's a good correlation which is positive for the future. We still need more and we always want more performance, so that's what we are working very hard to do."

Problem counting? I see Redbull, Ferrari, Lotus, Mercedes, 2 Force India and 2 Toro Rosso ahead of them...okay, they could beat Toro Rosso, but that still makes 5. So they were sandbagging in the tests? Is that the best way to evaluate the correlation between track and tunnel? Even McLaren know better. :hehe:

Agree, didnt Massa have one or two de-laminations in the Bahrain race too?

David Hobbs is losing it... he mentioned during the telecast of FP2 this morning that he couldn't remember the last time he'd ever seen a tire de-laminate like that. I was yelling back at the TV... yes, three weeks ago in Bahrain.
