Well, don't screw around with marriage, it's fine the way it is, and no one is FORCED to marry. We're talking here about those that want to get married but are being denied because of their gender. Two completely different things.

Agree with LRW...Marriage is great for some, not for others. Abolishing marriage is a stupid thing to say.

I don't see myself the type to marry anyone, but I won't discard the idea completely. As for having kids, okay...that was in the recycle bin and the bin is cleared permanently.

Social contracts should be kept local between the people involved, not have national legal status.

I'm not denying people the right to live together etc. just to have some sort of legal ceremony over it, it's not the place of the state.

This isn't solely about a legal ceremony, it's about the rights the state give a married couple and denies couples that are not 'allowed' to be legally married.

If this doesn't put things into perspective, then nothing will.
