You're lucky if you can get a half decent one bedroom flat in these parts for less than £85,000. Even then it'll probably be what used to be a 2 room tenement flat in an area where the risk of getting stabbed is a bit too high for normal living.

Yeah, Oxford is sickeningly expensive alright, especially the areas i (need to) live in. I pay 30% more equivalent rent to other cities i have lived in - the sooner i can get out of there the better, in terms of money anyway. The amount we pay for a 4 bed student terraced house (that is a complete dive and not very big), you could rent a 4 bed detached house in a nice area of my 'home cities', Derby/Nottingham.

Yeah, but Derby / Nottingham are 'up north' - its worth paying the premium to live in a respectable area.

Yeah, Oxford is a very nice city generally. Only a few bad areas.
