Don't y'all think that this is being blown out of all proportion? No new parts, so no development to be done, all that could be done is set-up work, which is pointless given that F1 does not race at Mugello, it makes more sense to give the test drivers (it is a test after-all) three days in the car to learn the real life characteristics of the car which can be taken into simulator work as vaptin suggested! What's the point of having test/reserve drivers if they are never allowed to get into the car. My view is that McLaren want their test drivers to be upto speed with the actual car!

Stop being so sensible. It won't be tolerated in this thread! :whip::hehe:

Echos what I hinted at earlier on - give the reserve/test drivers track time seeing as there are no new updates.

OH $#@! F#@! GUYS I JUST NOTICED THIS kobayashi is running 2 days and perez is only getting 1 during the upcoming mugello test!! CON$#!@INGSPIRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this obviously means that mclaren is behind it. See, if perez gets more time in the car, then that means more experience and likely better developed driving skills, so if he replaces massa at ferrari then that is a direct threat to mclaren (assuming ferrari has a better car at that time). so whitmarsh must be paying sauber under the table to disadvantage perez...hmm...so if whitmarsh is paying a team running a ferrari engine, then this could likely mean he may have some side deals going on with the actual ferrari team, meaning he's involved with massa running into hamilton all the time so that his pet jenson button score more points and make hamilton look bad..............IT'S ALL COMING CLEAR NOW!!!! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

lolz i'm j/k

Took just the McLaren bit out of this highly interesting article:

McLaren’s Jenson Button also did not see the chequered flag in Bahrain.

Whilst running in the points a few laps before the end, the Briton had to pit due to puncture, probably caused by a broken and noisy exhaust that was blowing hot gases onto the tyre.

“A lap later, despite setting a personal best in sector two, Button was back in the pits,” said Auto Motor und Sport.

The official explanation was a differential problem, but Auto Motor und Sport claims the retirement, like Senna’s, was “probably for tactical reasons”.

“Button was in 13th place, with no hope of breaking into the points.”

The retirement means he can now take on a fresh gearbox for Barcelona, without penalty. This could have an added benefit, journalist Michael Schmidt contends, because McLaren is planning modifications at the rear of the car that require a new gearbox shape.

Without the tactical retirement in Bahrain, Button would have had to wait until Monaco for the new gearbox.

So who's telling porkies then? Either there are or there arent modifications to be tried out on the car? P:resumably it will be on Buttons car since they can switch his gearbox.

A modified rear end that requires a new gearbox sounds quite major. If I had a modified rear end Id consider it very major :rofl::rofl:
Presumably Lewis cant get his rear end modified? Perhaps thats why they didn't want him hanging around.

First off that is a rumour from that Schmidt, secondly he never said this gear box was going to be tested at mugello the team has said no major updates are being tested at mugello.

You always turn things around to suit your conspiracy agenda :banghead:

When someone, anyone, starts taking what some journo says (without any named source or quote or anything supporting) about an F1 car's upcoming upgrades as gospel, that seems quite desperate... but then desperation does seem to be the driving force behind this entire conspiracy.

At what point does this thread become libelous with all these unfounded and baseless claims against McLaren and Whitmarsh? :hehe:

Maybe Zurich_Allan could provide some legal advise, just incase. :D

Jenson doesn't see much point into testing at Mugello...
Lewis says he wants to, and that it is very important... so important, that he'd be willing to muscle out the team's decision/plans for a run.......

There are 2 ways of seeing this:
a) Lewis is all in. Concentrated and on target. Hoping to get as much as possible.
b) He has no clue. And thinks a 'meaningless' session will jump him into P1 at the expense of risking and tiring himself and/or missing out on some other plan.

I'll be clever and split it half way. Maybe Lewis is just focused on doing the best, if that means more testing, then he is obviously showing he's willing to put on the extra hours. But... he is not as experienced/calm as Button who perhaps has more understanding of what is actually going to be tested and what will they get out of it... by understanding more... he can understand why it is not absolutely vital that he runs this test.

Or... maybe its just Mclaren trying to screw Lewis up. :)

Or maybe it's McLaren doing what's best for McLaren, and not what's best for Lewis. It is team McLaren, isn't it? Or did it become team Hamilton while I wasn't looking?

Well Alonso is testing for two days. His car is very poor, but the testing must mean something.

You cannot compare with another team, because they have different test programmes. They have different things to test.

And everyone knows Ferrari prioritise Alonso. And with very good reason it has been shown ;)

And? That is irrelevant. As F1ea points out each team will have different testing programmes and different things to test. Plus Ferrari are quite a long way behind McLaren.

The test session will obviously mean different things to different teams. For some it'll be a chance for their reserve drivers to get some time in the car and for others it'll be a chance to run some updates for the first time.
