hmmm Webber buttering up the Tifosi... almost like he wants to get in their good books for some reason.

Just wait till they're booing him on the podium at Monza, he won't be buttering them up then :nono:

Scarbs has tweeted that there is a rumor that McLaren has a "mechanic" adjustable rear brake duct (body part) that adjusts the air flow to the tire. By adjusting the very hot air from the brakes to the tire you can effect how fast/slow the tire will heat. Movable body parts anyone?

Do the cars have to be race legal in testing?

No.

Just to be clear on this, it would be completely legal for racing if it was only moved by a mechanic during a stop.

Whilst nearly everyone that is choosing to get exhaust gases to the diffuser, including Sauber, are trying out McLaren style solutions, Ferrari are definitely going their own way and sticking with the Acer ducts. I actually like this, and it shows that Ferrari have not been put off their original concept.

FYI, the system they ran at Mugello yesterday is pretty much back to the first version tested. It is back pointing outwards. Differences I can see are the channels seem to be more pronounced aiming the flow to the outside diffuser area plus the additional 3 slots in the floor in front of the tyre. It hasn't moved back (closer to the driver) but that may be coming.

Results from today's testing.

Only a few laps were able to be done while there was a dry line yesterday. Forecast looks better for today, although still chances of rain in the early afternoon. Thursday is forecast for dry weather all day.

What an odd placement for the FIAT logo...

Why is this test at Ferraris track anyway? Bit unfair

Ferrari offered the track for free and teams agreed. Pretty well documented from last year. Judging by the driver comments they're happy with the unfair treatment :hehe:

Apparently Mclaren offered theirs (see image below) but there weren't any takers....

it's not a matter of drivers liking it or not, no doubt it's a good track in a nice region. Just Ferrari would have tons of track data as a baseline while everyone else would have zilch.

As you know Bud testing has been outlawed for ages, so, data would be so old it would be meaningless. And, as I mentioned, it was decided by all teams democratically.

But how many votes did Ferrari get?
