I was wondering if the McLaren long wheelbase will work against them here in Monaco?

Could be a tad of a problem.

Does anyone else have the f1.com iPhone app? I keep getting these fictitious P1 updates a day early...

I'm actually kind of curious where these times are coming from.

They are not fictitious! It's a new Apple feature where your device can go forward in time and pull news stories from the future. I'd go to a betting site and put all the money you can get a hold of today on those results for P1 on Friday in Monaco.

Red Bull opting to run without KERS! Could be a wise decision!

It's their Achilles heel this year. You think that with the slow speeds of Monaco they'd be able to keep those batteries cool if they couldn't keep them cool in Barcelona?

Without it they will be much lighter and better on brakes.

No and no, there are weight restrictions to the cars, so they can't decide to just remove the weight of the batteries, and the brakes will not be hampered, which is different than they'll be better on brakes. I think with the slow speeds of Monaco, the brakes aren't that much of an issue there will be a lot of braking but not extreme braking like Canada.

But what are yo worried about, Red Bull can hang fuzzy dice off the rear view mirrors in Monaco as their only upgrade and still come out on top Sunday.

I have been thinking about the street circuits. You know, everyone raves about Monaco, whereas Singapore has always had lots of critics. I don't know why, when each year they've been on the same calendar together ('08,'09,'10), Singapore has always been the more exciting race. History does a hell of a lot for one's reputation, you see.

sorry mate but have to disagree

Not necessarily... Shorter wheelbase generally means more responsive handling, yes, but if you don't have a good balance and grip/downforce in the first place then it's not really going to help your cause.

I'm in the middle here between you and Spanky and I was thinking about comparisons of the length of the McLaren versus the Red Bulls ( :hehe: there's a joke in there somewhere) and thought that perhaps it may dictate a slightly wider racing line in some areas.

Longer wheelbase does make it more difficult. But it depends on how good the cars are at maximum downforce configuration, teams don't build their cars simply thinking about Monaco.

I still think Redbull will come up trumps in qualifying...though it will be the hardest challenge of the year so far. Their car just seems so planted all the time, slow or fast corners.

If Ferrari do well here this weekend I wonder if we will here LDM moan and claim Monaco is not a real race track like he usually does the past few years

Ferrari is pretty fast in the 2nd sector, but they lose time in 3rd sector. It was obvious today. Red Bulls were using DRS only on pit "straight". Petrov caught that nasty bump on braking after the tunnel, the same one that lead Kimi to end Sutil's race few years ago.
It's going to be an interesting race, here is everything possible.
