Who are the teams on target to start with Kers in Melbourne?
Red Bull have their car late, Ferrari admit they're behind
Mclaren, BMW, Williams? - they seem confident

Yeah Red Bull are going to release their car a bit later than others and Vettel has admitted that they are a bit late with KERS and it still has some issues about safety. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was implemented before Melbourne. So STR depend on RBR and Red Bull partly rely on Renault and their KERS system.

Teams that want to delay KERS because their development is behind schedule (Ferrari and Renault are two of those) should just shut up about it! It's their own fault for letting Honda and BMW get so far ahead of them.

Fact is, the other teams still gave away an advantage in the KERS game. If somebody buys Honda, that KERS system will still be there and thus the advantage will remain unless they pull their fingers out.

Well i might just buy them.
In theory Ferrari could buy them for the KERS package.

Interesting... Ferrari could do a swap deal with engines for KERS with the new buyers! Buying Honda would be a bargain

Hmmm..

i belive your missing the point here.

The honda engine is entirely diffrent to the Ferrari engine so its not just a case of putting a ferrari engine in the honda chasis because it won't work massive changes will have to be made the the gearbox etc.. etc.

the same goes for KERS ferrari will not be able to take the KERS package and plug it into the F2008 it may require huge changes to the car

You couldn't afford them ;)

The "you can buy Honda for as little as £1" doesn't give the whole story. :P

If i were buying Honda, i'd be trying to persuade the Honda engine department to stay on for just one more season to provide engines at a certain price, rather than paying Ferrari/Mercedes for an engine that would require hefty redesign in other areas in a very short timescale! With the engine freeze it's not like any money needs to be spent on R&D, just materials and someone to actually build the engines. The 2010 car could then be designed around whatever engine they would be using.

this is a bit late in the post, but on about page 3 or 4 its said that ferrari didn't compete in can-am, they did, built and ran a car for at least a year driven by chris amon and powered by a 7.5 litre v12. they did also build an indy car in the 80's but never raced it. it was probably built when they were having one of their spats at f1 and not getting their way, as a threat to say we're leaving

I knew about the Indy car that Ferrari built and never raced. I wonder why though? Maybe not enough support or funding, but Ferrari do have a big and strong customer base in The United States of America. So never made too much sense not to race the car in Formula Indy.

When John Barnard joined Ferrari in '87 to be its new chief designer he directed that the V8 turbo Indianapolis project be put on the back burner while he focused on Ferrari’s Formula One car. When the Indianapolis 500 was run on May 24, 1987, the Ferrari V8 turbo Formula Indy was not in the field, and when Enzo Ferrari died on Aug. 14, 1988, the dream of winning at Indianapolis seemed to have died with him so there you have it, F1 above all else.
