Your last line is interesting...but would Ferrari do something which would upset Alonso? I don't know...maybe they're looking for a guy to take over Alonso who probably has another 3-4 good years left in him before the decline starts.

It's only my opinion, but, yep, you've got it pretty right from how I see it. But I still think its a long shot, and, for what it's worth, if Ferrari thinks Lewis is a better bet, they'd go for him instead.

I'm sure Ferrari poached a few of McLaren's cast-offs before last year didn't they? It clearly doesn't work. :P:whip:

I guess how good the F2012 is can only be answered at the end of the year

First they had to fix the aerodynamic testing facility, then they hired aerodynamics specialists and now their "fixes" and improvements the the F2012 have been more in line with improving the strength of the car, mechanical grip. :hehe:

Well...credit to Ferrari though, the F2012 isn't the hopeless duck I thought it would be. Clearly, lots of potential in the car but I wonder if they've peaked or close to peaking, or not even close? Only Ferrari would know that.

That's a misleading article, it implies Ferrari have confirmed a pre-contract with Vettel. That's not true, the article cites Benon's blog where he claims a usually impeccable source has said Ferrari have a pre-contract with Vettel but also says a senior insider from Redbull dismissed the idea as absolute rubbish.

They are sounding pretty sure though and I'm under the impression BBC F1 are usually accurate.

There's always driver to Ferrari rumours i think you should take any with a pinch of salt!
I can't see him going to Ferrari with Fernando there, I would think Fernando would have a clause in his contract to have no world champion as team mate. I don't mind Vettel if Lewis leaves I'd take him at McLaren :) Saying that it be good to see him vs Alonso!

Ferrari have now admitted they have a pre-contract with Vettel for 2014. Also that Alonso vetoed hamilton. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/18524133

Hughes already knew of this, he wrote about it in autosport (impeccable Ferrari sources who have never been wrong before) He went on to speculate why. He reckons Vettel signed on the recommendation of Bernie in case Renault and Mercedes pull out over the engine rules. This would leave Ferrari with a huge advantage over the other teams. the would also have two of the top three drivers. Bernie may be an old dodderer but when it comes to busines......

"A source close to Ferrari says Alonso has vetoed the idea of Hamilton joining him at the team but given his approval to Vettel."

Unless there is a named source I call :bs: .

So one side says one thing and the other says the exact opposite. I guess both sides cancel out the other so I'd call this a continuation of the regular bouts of speculation that have been going on for a while now.

Journalists dont usually revael their sources, if they did the information would dry up.

I was speaking to a source who I cant reveal*, and they say that Hamiltons negotiations have stalled before they have even started, and XIX are now talking to Mercedes.....

Let's go round again
Fernando Alonso says he would have "no problem" with either Lewis Hamilton or Sebastian Vettel as a future team-mate at Ferrari.

Alonso admitted that Ferrari would consult him on the identity of his team-mate. "It's an open chat, we talk, but in the end it's their decision," he said.

Alonso's remarks about Hamilton contradict information received by BBC Sport and other media organisations that he had vetoed the Englishman joining Ferrari, but told the team he was fine with the idea of Vettel coming on board.

Alonso described talk about Ferrari's next driver as "rumours".
"When I won the 2005 championship with Renault, I was linked to Ferrari immediately - and I arrived in 2010," he said.
"So, if Sebastian is linked now, maybe he'll arrive in five years' time. I don't know.
"(I'm) extremely happy with Felipe (Massa). Whatever team-mate comes in the future will be welcome, will be part of the team and part of Ferrari and, as I said, when I joined this team the most important thing in Ferrari is to help each other to make one red car win.
"It's something that president (Luca) Di Montezemolo is very clear on when you arrive on day one in Ferrari. So, whatever team-mate is coming in the future, if it comes, will be no problem and we will try to work as we are doing now with Felipe."

Maybe even the teams and drivers don't look forward to Valencia and start some rumours to keep up the interest.

Calm down girls, I'm moving to Ferrari for next season.

It's a bit telling that Alonso would veto Lewis as a team-mate at Ferrari. I suspect he rates Lewis as a greater threat. Lewis has always been quietly regarded as a "hard" driver in terms of the pressure he puts on team-mates (in the garage and on track). Vettel on the other hand, isn't a big deal for Alonso. Hmmm...interesting. :)

I'm just saying...

I've read plenty of news reports where sources have been named. What you mean to say is that the rumours would be harder to spin with a named source. The factual stuff won't dry up.
