Thanks for that, it makes more sense the 10 different translations I've heard elsewhere.

Grazie!!

The truth wouldn't have sent the entire F1 fan base into a tizzy like the truth would!!

Even if Alonso had mouthed off as claimed, I'd take an angry driver letting his feelings out, over one who who would blatantly ignore team orders to hold position. :coffee:

FYI...

"Non mi ha fatto passare, siete scemi, mamma mia..."
Translated "He didn't let me past, you're silly/foolish, oh my God..."

Scemi does NOT translate into stupid...
Stupidi translates into stupid, go figure, eh?

As for Massa, he obviously chose not to let Alonso past to prove a point.
Unfortunately for him, it's too little too late!! If he wanted to do right by
the team, Massa should have followed through on the TEAM plan!!
He is NO where near a title and thus should have done what he can to help
out Alonso. PERIOD.

And, yes, my Italian is fluent!! Obviously more fluent than the "Italian"
journalist Coulthard supposedly spoke to. Either that, or that journalist'
"English" is so sadly lacking, he wasn't able to find the right word.

Stupid foolish, either way he wasn't being friendly

...Q: Fernando, there was quite a stir about your radio conversation with the team during qualifying. How is the situation for you?
Fernando Alonso: Well, the conversation was taken out of context because nobody took the part when I said thank you to the team and Felipe. That is okay. I am so long in Formula One that I know that these things are hyped. It is Saturday and tomorrow can happen anything: maybe it rains, maybe I win the race - who knows. I have learned to live with these things as that’s the way it is...

As the old adage goes "walk a mile in my shoes"!

I'm fairly certain that any one of us would have had
a few choice words in the same/similar situtation!
 I know I would!!

Really? If the other guy decides to drive away and give the team the finger, does this make the team stupid/foolish? Bit unfair on Ferrari to hear these words from their No.1 who they've treated like a King since Day 1 don't you think? Alonso is a spoiled brat, and for a while now everyone thinks he has grown up but that's only because he's having his shoes licked by his team day in day out. The guy is still the same character from his McLaren days.

Could Kimi really be Ferrari bound?

wrote:">Di Montezemolo refuses to scotch rumours that Raikkonen will make a return to Ferrari

Ferrari president Luca Di Montezemolo has refused to rule out the prospect of Kimi Raikkonen returning to the team.

Although winning his only world title with Ferrari in 2007, the 33-year-old Finn appeared to leave the Maranello-based marque under a cloud at the end of 2009.

Despite having another year remaining on his contract, Ferrari opted to pay off Raikkonen and instead signed Fernando Alonso from 2010.

This season Raikkonen has so far refused to sign a new contract with Lotus as he is seeking financial and technical assurances, resulting in him being linked with Red Bull and Ferrari.

Although overlooked by Red Bull as they have signed Daniel Ricciardo from Toro Rosso for 2014, Ferrari have yet to announce who will line up alongside Fernando Alonso next year, with Felipe Massa's role again on the line.

Asked whether Raikkonen would be returning, Di Montezemolo said: 'We will take a decision in the next (few) days, and we haven't taken any kind of a decision yet.

'We haven't signed any contract with anybody. We will talk with Massa and then we have our opinion and then we will decide.'

Quizzed as to whether he would be comfortable working with Raikkonen again, Di Montezemolo added: 'What happened in the past with Kimi? We won a world championship.

'First of all, Kimi is a good driver. For us it was a big satisfaction to win with him the first championship with a new team, without Michael (Schumacher), without Ross (Brawn).

'But there are also the possibilities of some other drivers, there is also the possibility as last year we decide to continue with Felipe.

'We haven't taken any kind of decision yet at all. In every decision you have to be very careful because you have pluses and minuses.

'But now is the time to take a decision, before (at any previous time this season) it was too early.'

Luca confirms Fernando wants to go to another team :hehe:

And Alonso's team-mate is...

Monza - Ferrari are ready to decide who will partner Fernando Alonso at their Formula One team next season, president Luca di Montezemolo said on Saturday without ruling out their 2007 champion Kimi Raikkonen.

"We will think of this immediately after Monza because we wanted to arrive at this weekend without any strange pressure," he told reporters after qualifying at Ferrari's home Italian Grand Prix.

"We will take any decision in the next days and we haven't taken any kind of a decision yet," Montezemolo added.

"We haven't signed any contract with anybody, we will talk with (Felipe) Massa and then we have our opinion and then we will decide."

Brazilian Massa is out of contract at the end of the season and paddock speculation is swirling around his future at the team after a season in which he has again been eclipsed by Alonso.

Raikkonen is also out of contract at Lotus, who want to keep him but need to provide the Finn with guarantees that they can pay his wages.

Sauber's German Nico Hulkenberg, who qualified third and ahead of both Ferrari drivers on Saturday, has also been mentioned.

Raikkonen is Ferrari's most recent world champion, leaving at the end of 2009 to make way for double world champion Alonso and spending two years in the world rally championship before making a comeback last year with Lotus.

Asked whether Ferrari could take Raikkonen back, Montezemolo replied: "Also we can take somebody else.

"What happened in the past with Kimi? We won a world championship. First of all, Kimi is a good driver. For us it was a big satisfaction to win with him the first championship with the new team without Michael (Schumacher), without Ross (Brawn)," he added.

"I think there are also the possibilities of some other drivers but there is also the possibility as last year that we decide to continue with Felipe. We haven't taken any kind of decision yet at all.

"In every decision, you have to be very careful because you have plus and minus. Now is time to take a decision. Before it was too early. And we will take it."

Montezemolo said relations with Alonso were good, despite a very public reprimand on his birthday in July after the Spaniard criticised his car and was then linked to a possible switch to champions Red Bull.

"The truth is that he was trying to go to Marussia," joked Montezemolo, saluting the Spaniard as he walked past with a cheeky grin.

"He is a very important member of the family and I share sometimes his attitude that he would love to have a better car... everything is OK."

Wait until you see it from a credible source. A credible source, the Daily Mail is not.

Personally, I believe that he was referring to the strategy itself being foolish and who knows, it's possible Alonso didn't agree with it, in the first place; but, went along with it. Since we don't know what the discussion was behind closed doors and taking into consideration all the rumours about Kimi coming back, I'm betting Massa knows the writing is on the wall.

All of which leads me to believe that it's a very strong possibility that Massa went "rogue" as a last ditch effort to keep his drive. As you've seen, during the race today, he didn't give Alonso any grief when he was being passed. Why? I'm betting that Massa's ear was seriously "tweaked" after that Qualifying fiasco yesterday!!

Of course, that's coming from me as a Tifosa, you'll have a different opinion! :D

A lot must have changed since 2009! Certainly interesting news if it plays to be true.
