It looked odd to me as well, but I've heard the term 'sister team' many times....so I figured F1 teams are feminine subjects. :P
More like, let's blame it on the womenfolk... again... :P

Nico Rosberg tweeted this morning (although its now been taken down, guess at the request of Pirelli)

" Just spun at full speed 320km/h on Bahrain straight cause my tyre blew up without warning.thanks to that need to get some toilet paper now."

Doesnt sound good...

And Pirelli have an answer

"The tyre tests in Bahrain regarded a number of prototypes, which were completely innovative in terms of structure and compounds, with the aim of developing the most suitable solutions for the next season," the company stated.

"This morning Nico Rosberg's Mercedes was fitted with one of these prototypes, a tyre which had only been tested in the laboratory and which will not be proposed again.

"Thus, the safety of the tyres which will be supplied for the next Championship is not in question."

So it is to be expected that the tyres they bring along to a test may explode, because thats why they are been tested, to find the ones that dont explode.

And there is no question about the safety of next years tyres because the ones that explode wont be brought along. They will have already exploded, and if a driver just happens to get hurt, well thats what testing is for

What a joke, they cant produce safe experimental tyres?

I was hoping for proper tyres nest season. Doesn't look like we're getting them. It sounds like they're already experimenting with the limits of acceptability. Go slow or explode tyres again. FOR CHRISTSAKE!!!
I was offered Pirelli winter tyres, but that's another story.

:rofl::rofl:

One thing's for sure, I'm never spending a cent on a Pirelli made product ever again.....even if their road car tyres aren't representative of F1. They have made themselves a laughing stock.

Ok, here's the story. Very good winter Continental tyres ordered with new alloy wheels. To go on new car.Supplier phones to say those particular tyres won't be in stock for a while but they can offer pirelli's. :yikes::banghead:

:ranting::ranting::ranting: ....not havin that sh!te on my car!! :ranting::ranting::ranting:

Abashed person recovered and offered top of the range Continentals for £150, only a fiver a tyre more than the originally ordered tyres. :D

It's cheaper than taking them twice a year to a tyre person to have them changed over. The car will be kept for a long time.

So let me get this right - You can afford to spend money on 4 spare alloy wheels to keep your winter tyres on...?

Some people.... With my Alloys and normal tyres I was getting some vibration through the steering at 70, got them balanced 3 times and never solved the problem. Got winter tyres a couple of years ago put onto steel wheels and smooth as, been driving on my winter tyres ever since and not even had weather bad enough for them to make much difference. When I got them, they were out of continentals but it was dunlop they offered instead.

Yep. The Volvo, that the yeti is replacing, is 16 yrs old. Saved money times over by having two sets of wheels for that. Tyre people charge stupid money to switch tyres and it's twice a year. Wheels you can do yourself.

Yeah, I just looked into it - anything up to £25 a corner! Wow, £100 a time, twice a year. You are right, over a lifetime, alloys are much cheaper. Sorry I doubted you.

You are very correct there RC. 35 times 4 times 2 is the spend for one year. Anything longer than two years and it pays for itself.
