I think plenty of other drivers have made similar or more errors. Schumacher who you mention comes immediately to mind. The thing is, every single thing lewis does is put under the microsscope or penalised. Other drivers doing the same thing go unnoticed, uncommented upon and unpunished. penalty of being the best I guess.

I would say it's the penalty of being a British driver who was thrust into the spotlight with a lot of hype. Tbh, I'm sick of seeing Hamilton in the news every day - where are the squillions of articles about the new lie gate involving Senna at the Singapore GP.

The British media have such an influence over the sport and our perception of the other drivers.

To be fair, if you were living in Spain you might have a different view after reading some of the newspapers. Basically, in most places, you have some media which prints baised cr4p and some that are well balanced. The UK isn't immune to that, but there are plenty of good writers over there as well.

But surely the stewards collaborated with Heinz-Harald Frentzen who was affiliated with the Sauber Team in 2002 when he replaced Massa for one race.

Sorry - that's very bitter of me, but isn't the driver representative there to stop such decisions from taking place? What influence does he have over the steward panel? Do the stewards come to a unanimous decision?

They're there to give the driver's perspective. Doesn't mean the other stewards have to agree with them or that the drivers' actions were justifiable. Like any other committee, I'm sure the decisions are rarely unanimous. Anyway, the point is we have no idea what goes on, so it's silly to put the onus completely on the driver representative.

Martin Brundle remarks today, "There's no doubt in my mind [Hamilton] has alienated somebody in the past because these circumstances always seem to go against him."

I'd say there's more than a grain of truth in that, but it's a truth that reaches beyond the stewards.

You can see it in the photos from the paddock, too, the tension between Hamilton and his own pit crew. Lots of closed body language and defensive postures. But photos of Vettel chatting with Guillaume Rocquelin look more like lovers whispering secrets to each other. The difference is quite stark.

Difference is of a guy 100 + points lead in the standings to a guy sitting 5th in the standings .

Very true. Red Bull are in cruise control this year. They've fought hard for it mind, but they can really put up their feet for the remainder of the year and enjoy their success.

That is in stark contrast to McLaren. You can't expect the team or drivers such as Hamilton who are very ambitious and success-hungry to be up in smiles when they're clearly lagging behind the front runners. I haven't seen anything much this year to suggest that 2012 won't be any different! Vettel will be a triple time World Champion by the time the world ends next year. Only Fangio (4) and Schumacher (5) have won that many titles in a row.

Every mountain has a downhill side, so when getting to know someone, you only see the real person when things are bad. When things are good, everyone is good, no one has problems. I wonder what articles the press would be writing about Red Bull if both their drivers were within ten points and leading the WDC or did we forget that Red Bull last year?

Yesterday something was posted on Hamilton praising Button's driving this year, and not even reacting to the Massa situation, saying simply it's all behind him It's likely a PR front, but at least he's saying and doing the right thing, and still being criticized that's what comes when falling from the mountaintop. McLaren is comfortably in 2nd place yet it's not an enjoyable position for the team or for the drivers to be in, like Seinfeld says, 2nd is the first loser especially under such domination.

Remember boys and girls all the articles posted this year about the perfect season Red Bull and Vettel are having, enjoy them, we're living through a historic F1 season, but from every mountaintop there's only one place to go.
