If Vettel is running first Webber second Alonso third then towards the end of the race RB would surely have to swap Mark and Seb. Only if Alonso Dnfs or is running lowly will Vettel and Webber hold stations.

That sounds like the most sensible option for redbull to me.

I've been backing Weber all year...so I'm a bit disappointed, but not surprised with the recent Red Bull news. I honestly think Vettel has a very LOW chance of winning the championship. He's won 3 races so far this year out of 17...how can he be expected to win the next 2 races??? That's one short of his season total thus far. I just don't see Vettel pulling it off, especially with Alonso needing to faulter.

I've always been 50/50 been the two, no matter how much I appear to favour Vettel. But Vettel really should have twice as much victories in my opinion. Webber clearly deserved his wins in Catalunya and Monaco, but in Britain Vettel was taken out by Hamilton, and in Hungary his radio failed.

Whereas before Catalunya Vettel proved he could've and should've in some cases won Bahrain, Australia, Malaysia, and China. Turkey he should have won, he won at Valencia. Webber hasn't looked as strong as Vettel, and you cannot bet on him winning the final 2 races, he's just had some luck from other people's failures.

Vettel seems to be on for a win in almost every race. And I can guarantee you that he will look like winning in the final 2 races. He is a much better bet to win the final 2 races than Webber is - I don't give a crap what his results say. I know that if Red Bull threw all their support behind Vettel he would have won just about every damn race. But I couldn't say the same about Webber. I do not trust Webber to get the job done if Red Bull back him 100% at this very moment. I'm afraid he will disappoint me.

That might sound odd, because I know Webber is/was Mr. Consistent. And quite clearly some incidents this year show Vettel's unreliable. And I know I just said I'm 50/50. Crap what am I saying?

Otherwise, Red Bull can back Webber into the next Grand Prix, but if he slips, and fails to make use of that backing, Red Bull will have no choice but to throw all their support behind Vettel.

But if Webber wins, GREAT for him, GREAT for me, GREAT for the motorsport community in general.

"Not bad for a number two driver, eh?"

I think every race this year (minus a few: Monza, Montreal, etc) Vettel has been the favorite to win. He's also been faster than Weber all year. Given this advantage AND the fact that he is still behind Weber makes me wonder why Red Bull doesn't back Weber for the title and not risk the huge disaster of having the best car for teh whole year and come away empty.

Usually the only person who can beat Weber is Vettel...so, I see it much easier for Weber to win 1 and finish 2nd/3rd/ahead of Alonso in another. Than, Vettel winning two and Alonso finishing off the podium...

Ok. Sorry, I didn't watch that race. :hehe:

:hehe: well when you say taken out it was more of tap really :hehe: !

Well Webber-Hamilton accident was a tap. Vettel-Webber was a tap.

A tap is all it takes in F1. Specially to shred someones tyre like lewis did.

I don't think it's absolutely fair to say that Vettel has outpaced Webber for the whole year.....Webber had a run at Spain, Monaco and Turkey where he had the mental and speed edge on his team-mate. On top of that, raw aggression saw him beat Vettel at Silverstone. It is fair to say that since then Vettel has had the edge on Webber....but seriously, their pace in Japan and Korea was basically the same....which is also the case in Malaysia.

I find it amazing that people are writing Mark off at this stage (and saying that RedBull can't rely on him), he has been the most consistant driver the whole season....there's just a couple of drivers who are finishing the season stronger.

Well Ive been a webber supporter and a Vettel disliker all season . But you know what ive changed my mind (female's perrogative :D ). Why should Vettel support Webber? Vettel still has a chance. Webber wouldnt need support he'd be clear in the lead if he hadnt taken himself out in Korea.Vettel was unlucky with his engine. Thing is in Red Bull Helmut wants Vettel to win and Horner sides towards Webber. So no team orders, as it should be. Same as at McLaren. Jens has said he will help lewis when he can no longer win but he will not accept orders to do so. Alonso  well we know how he wins.
I was insensed with and Red bull at Silverstone and Turkey and that rubbed off on how I felt about Vettel(that and his finger). But you know he's had way more equipment failures than Webber but he's still in the hunt. Full marks to red Bull for letting him stay there.
