They can not have there results wiped as the cars have been checked and found within the rules. It is not Redbulls fault if the FIA have not done their job correctly.

Lets face it how many people take road cars in for its MOT and it passes even with noticable faults.

This is a case of Red Bull understanding the rules better than the FIA, so no punishment about the legality because unless they say so going forward, (as they just have) if you pass the test, you pass the test.

It's the test that's deficient Red Bull capitalized on it.

Yeh but it's still flexing it's just hard to prove from tv/photographs

Then it seems like another mess up by the FIA, redbull (maybe Ferrari to) seem to have worked a way around the test from my understanding, if they've worked a way around the rule itself then fair game to them.

I think Mclaren might be in trouble if its declared legal in Spa and the wing still manages to flex, it seems they're not confident about implementing one themselves.

I think they probably are. They're just saying what they say to force clarification.

Redbull passed the test due to the test is flawed,
Cant hide the fact the wing is designed to flex, the proof is on tape.
Are they blind to the fact its moving closer to the ground proving there test is useless ?
its obvious the design of the red bulls front wing puts most of the down presure on the ends much more than the 50 kg
Most of the wings /fins/ air foils are right on the end creating more presure on the furthest join causing it to flex.
Red bull are cheating that plain to see,
put it in a wind tunnel and it will fail,

The old test allowed 10mm of movement under a 50kg load. The new test will allow 20mm of movement under a 100kg load. If you think this will diminish RBR's chance of winning Spa, you drastically underestimate Adrian Newey (especially since they have four weeks to make the adjustment).

2 weeks, 2 weeks their in shutdown. Only writing on beer mats until it opens again.

Newey does that anyway so to speak, paper and pencil are his tools of choice when designing cars. I believe Steve Matchett mentioned that it was just amazing to see what's going on: Newey scribbling and drawing on paper in the front of the room :yoda: and behind him about 200 people on computers translating his oeuvres into binary code  and taking it from there...

Adrian Newey can create the heavens and the earth in just five days using nothing more than a beer mat and a sharpie.

Impressive. It took Michelangelo considerably longer to create the heavens and earth and I thought highly of him.

Everything flexes. If a certain element deflects the set ammount at the set load... then the deflection-load test is passed and the element has to be declared legal. Deflection has to be linear, as well. Which is why they will implement the new test procedure. This means double the load, double the movement. If the element has linear deflection... the element has to be considered legal.

How Red Bull's front wing distributes its load to allow for the allowed defelction... is strictly an engineering and design virtues. Not a cheat. If the FIA regulations do not mention a wind tunnel test for a certain element, then the fact-assumption that the Red Bull nose will fail the test, is not cheating. it may not be "in the spirit of the rules", but the FIA set the precedent last yr with the double diffuser.

So now the FIA will have to deal with the clever engineers putting their salaries and qualifications at test

It seems to me that Red Bull and Ferrari are the only ones taking the rule book and designing to it. If you are allowed no more than XX amount of deflection and you use every bit of that, it IS NOT cheating...it is working within the rules. If McLaren makes their wing super rigid and thereby stronger than Red Bulls they likely lose a tiny bit of downforce but gain some operating strength on the wing should the driver bump a curb with it etc.

Lets all remember that Newey is notorious for building cars that are wonderfully aerodynamic but also show signs of being fairly fragile. Sure his wing is flexing more than McLaren's but that is probably McLaren's lack of foresight rather than Red Bull cheating. How much you allow the chassis to roll, tire flex etc all play into the clearance on cornering as well....not just wing flex.

It also needs to be said...that Red Bull appear to be masters of keeping others focused on things that aren't the real answer. They seem to be pretty good at getting other teams to chase their own tails in a circle...only to end up no closer after spending a trainload of cash. I give their engineering full marks for being the best and the brightest this season....if only their drivers would quit throwing points away. Between Vettel hitting his team mate and Webber rear ending a back marker etc...it's like watching Hamilton's rookie two seasons all over again. Best car, fast drivers....doing idiotic things. It's mind blowing....but I admit the season would be very boring if Red Bull had not made such a cok of it. They would be far out front and nigh uncatchable if their drivers and their management weren't so.....well.....amateur.
