That is different. How many laps was Alonso out before Kubica broke down? like 1, 2 or 3? That is too Long. Remember when Hamilton overtook Raikkonen he yielded as soon as he could. The same for other drivers this year.

Also, Kimi crashed out before any mention of penalty from the stewards.

The fact that cars can fail/crash or change position after something like that is all the more reason for the team/driver to make the decision to give back a place straight away.

EDIT: What race was Domenically watching?
"You can have a situation where you immediately give the position back to the driver if you think there is really an advantage that you gained. But we felt that was not really the case."

I feel sorry for alonso, but in hindsight he really should have given back the position from the moment he came back onto the tack after overtaking Kubica. He just kept going like he rightly gained the position. The Stewards probably saw this as some form of defiance and so they reacted in the way they did. Makes me wonder why didn't Alonso's engineer tell him to yield?! What was going through their minds?! Very avoidable situation it didn't have to happen.

LOL then the wunder boy ran of at the end an wooodnt giv the inrveiw. What a mamas boy

heeey?!

I just had a brilliant idea! So whenever you're ahead of a faster car and you're approaching the chicane, defend on the inner line; even break earlier, doesn't matter if the other car is ahead of you at that moment.

Then instead of keeping first corner inside, second outside to give your opponent room, just go straight on and go for the apex of the 2nd corner in the chicane. You'll give your opponent 2 choices. Crash hard into you, or illegally pass you cutting the chicane, in which case he'll have to return the position to you. WIN!

Or you can be a fair racer and get passed on the outside, knowing you were beaten by a better driver. (Schumacher passes Alesi for P1 at the German Grand Prix...)

I hadn't considered that it might have been Kubicas unfair racing by trying to keep Alonso behind him.

I have to agree now, it was damn obvious if Alonso was thinking clearly.

As soon as the guy started driving away from Kubica I was thinking "if this guy doesn't get a drive through this is criminal". The stewards have been great this season for me at least. Compounded with the insane timing of the Safety car, this race was bloody brilliant. :D

I ask all F1 fans, what will a driver do if a safety car is deployed and one of the front car is broken or not able to fly properly? Will the driver maintain the place or they will just overtake him and get penalty? Dat is exactly happen with Alonso? he was not foolish if he knew that he was going to get drive through penalty but Kubica was in the condition to catch him up? Does that mean that Alonso should park his car in the side and wait kubica to come by the time. Steward is nonsense and favouring few cars on the track. They dont know what will happen to F1 if Ferrari decide to leave it. they pleaded just before the season before in fron of ferrari.

The situation happened before the safety car, well before. IF a car breaks down on safety they forfeit their position. It is exactly what didnt happen numbnuts.

Why ask when you're obviously not a fan? Is this the first race you watched?

eh? Kubica broke down before the safety car, Alonso overtook Kubica before he broke down as well.
