If the Australian Gp is anything like Bahrain, you'll need a stiff drink to stay awake.

Or if you are a Tee-loser like me, then you will run on pure love

for the sport.

I found it hard staying awake through Bore-rain, and that started at 12pm... if Melbourne is just as bad or worse then an emergency dose of Red Bull might be called upon.

You could do what I do?

Wish that I was hosting the coverage instead of Jake? Is that what you do? :P

That and think about KP. Yes that is all my life is. Throw in a bit of the MDZP or the SLD... and there you go.

Melbourne is usually a great race, but if you need it, we can demand a podium with Vettel, Webber and Algy :D

Hmmm well I meant a can of the stuff and not an all Red Bull podium :P although my stomache will later complain at having a can of the stuff so early in the morning...

As for why I enjoy a race in the wee hours...It's got the feeling of an event. It's that special kind of excitement where it's pitch black outside, you're the only one conscious in the house, everything's peaceful...And you have the best sport in the world playing out live, right before your eyes. It's magical.

That is an excellent description.

My hopes (including no one being seriously injured):
Redemption for Vettel or a win for Massa (or Webber, I guess).
HRT gets through a good portion of the race.
And since people were talking about bad weather there, I'd actually like a bit of rain - but not too much, because Jaime does well in rain :)

Are we going to have another bore fest like Bahrain?

Who's gonna win?

Personally i think we'll see alot more excitement and we'll see Stronger performace from Mclaren.

Alonso Or Vettel

In a class of there own really, Massa also has a chance and Leiws could crop up in there.

I hate the late start as well. I much preferred it when it was on really early in the morning.

In fact, I believe I'm not alone. If I recall correctly, the European viewing figures for the Live Australian GP were about the same as or down on the previous years when it was held at midday

Very true. However, that could be simply part of a much larger trend. Viewing figures for the 2009 season were well down on the previous year.

Then again, you have to look at both championships. It is little wonder that the 2008 season got so many viewers given its finale etc.

The only country to buck the trend last year was Britain, which saw a rise in viewers... I wonder why ;)?

Duh, Button :D

Seriously though, it was the Beeb.

As for being part of a larger trend, whilst that is true, the whole point in moving it was to boost figures. So a decline can be seen as a failure of the move as well because the boost in figures from the move ought to have been bigger than the somewhat more gradual downward trend year on year.
