Of course she has put it down to family reasons...who wouldn't. Personally, I do not believe a female would survive the physical rigours of F1 and that is not a sexist attitude but a realistic assessment of gender physical differences.

A woman would have a little more padding if she had a crash

:banghead::banghead::banghead:
Seriously?
I'm inclined to start banging on about how ridiculous these comments are, but you're probably too small-minded to even take any notice.

Back on topic - it would be good to see a women in F1, but she'd probably just end up being ridiculed... In F1, it seems women are simply there to be oogled over . Guess that comes with an overly masculine-dominated sport.

*steps off her soapbox*

I agree with your opinion and it is ridiculous. Men > women comments irk me. If a lady can fly a jet, then a lady can drive a Formula One car. Simples.

Interestingly, though, Danica is the best performing American driver in the IRL...

Also interesting is that no American driver has won a race in the IRL this season.

Is that because most go to nascar?

Could be, man, could be.

Man Im sounding terrible today.
No I didn't mean for emma to get into F1 just for us guys to be all sexist. I meant that she wouldn't because she's one of our pack.

Again sorry if it was taken the other way.

lol - I did wonder how you meant that comment! The only thing saving you from a scathing reply was the fact that my 'pooter just crashed :D

But if I did get into F1, there'd be plenty of reason to take the piss out of me - I'd be slow, and I'd probably squeal every time I came to a corner. Not to mention having an fangirly panic attack every time Vettel came near :hehe:
And yes, I'm well aware that that's typical girly behaviour - the exact same stereotype I was just arguing against :D But just because I'd be rubbish is not to say that ALL women would be bad at racing at F1 level :P

The only reason I can't see an F1 driver being female in the current F1 championship is purely due to physical ability to do the current race distances. Other than that I see no reason why not.

Why would they be physically limited in respect of endurance??

I reckon after the hour mark in a race a woman would really start to struggle with the g forces physically and regardless of her skills her laptimes would fade away.

Its the same in any sport if you compare men & woman, the distances are usually shorter for the woman and if they are not the times in which they both complete the distances (marathons) are larger.

Don't get me wrong I have nothing against having females in F1 racing but I just can't see them maintaining the pace over a full race distance.

He kinda has a point though. However in a way IRL races last and Danica seems to last the distance.

no he don't women have don the leman's 24 in Prototypes.

men might be able to have more physical endurance but its not gonna come into play sitting in a race car for 2hrs
