Bummer. I'm down to my big 3 of Kimi, Vettel and Alonso.
Bourdais was my underdog, although I guess Kimi could fill that slot the way things are going this year.
I had hoped they would have at least given Bourdais a shot in the upgraded car to see if that "fixed the problem" for him.

Yeah, for me it's not just Nico and Kazuki as my favourite drivers, Bourdais' performances last year and the fact he came from ChampCar and not through GP2, F3 etc are how I came to like him.

Toro Rosso are starting to annoy me now, they only seem to want drivers who are Red Bull backed and like bud and Ewan have said, their management system is very poor.

I also believe the team have lost their way since Berger left them at the end of last year, the team can't have fallen back so much just because Vettel had left. It's time Stoddy came back with the Minardi name and re-shaped this team back into F1's most loved, respected and missed grid-fillers.

This week's Autosport is reporting that Loeb will be in a STR for Abu-Dhabi.

Has he even driven an F1 car before?

It's also a front page story on this week's Motorsport News newspaper.

Woohoo another Sebastien... it'd make F1 interesting with him four wheel drifting across the grass before T-boning someone!

Raikkonen to the vacated Citroen seat?

Bourdais eyes legal action against STR

By Jonathan Noble Thursday, July 16th 2009, 17:41 GMT

Sebastian Bourdais is considering taking legal action against Scuderia Toro Rosso after he was dropped by the team.

Following days of speculation about Bourdais' future, Toro Rosso announced on Thursday morning that the Frenchman had competed in his last race for the team at the German Grand Prix.

Reacting to the news, Bourdais has expressed his shock at the announcement and revealed that he is consulting his lawyers to see if the team breached its contract with him.

"I am very disappointed and shocked by the decision taken by Scuderia Toro Rosso of not allowing me to drive for the team until the end of the current season," said Bourdais, in a statement issued on Thursday night.

"I consider that, in doing so, Scuderia Toro Rosso has breached its contractual duties towards me; also I believe that nothing in my behaviour would legitimate a decision of the team to terminate the contract.

"I think that the team's decision is in clear violation of Scuderia Toro Rosso's obligations under the agreement. I have instructed my lawyers to review the situation including the possibility of issuing legal proceedings."

As well as his anger at Toro Rosso's move to drop him, Bourdais has expressed further irritation because it comes on the eve of the introduction of a major new car update for the Hungarian GP.

"I am even more frustrated by the team’s decision considering that the latter has been taken immediately before the Hungarian Grand Prix, where a new highly competitive racing package will be introduced by the team in order to try and overcome its current difficulties," said Bourdais.

"I am convinced that if I was given the chance to race with such a new package I would have had the opportunity to achieve satisfactory results."

Bourdais also told his fans that he remained committed to making a success of his F1 career.

Strange, given his actions on the pit wall after he retired last time out. :scratchchin:

Sad to here he's out of STR but would love to see him in one of the new teams. He may not be technically an American but he's doing the most American of things and filing a lawsuit :D
I don't know where the case would be adjudicated but if he were in the US he'd seemingly have a very good case. It would be interesting to see if his contract was similar to Piquets in which case he'd have a very good case.

Bourdais in USF1? Hmm the more i think about it the more it makes sense. I thinkg the management at USF1 have probably realized (hopefully) that having a US driver (let alone 2) may not be truly feasible. Why not get someone whos at least known in the US and maybe could bridge the gap in the US/European relations. Are you listening Peter Windsor??
