I'm really suprised Senna hasn't been given a shot at either of the two seats.

Instead we get a 19 year old and somone who's in the middle of a GP2 season.

Personally I would like to see Flavio get behind the wheel (as he's a better driver than Piquet in his own mind) and get a good spanking the the real F1 drivers!

But if what Piquet has been saying is true about being given a lesser car than Alonso, it's unfair to criticise him but I believe he got the drive because of his famous surname!

Thats what people may potentially think of Senna?

This is exactly what I was thinking. If Renault won't give their 2nd driver a competitive car, whoever replaces Piquet seems to stand about as much as a chance as he does/did. If it is true, Renault have basically sabotaged their own driver, and will most likely do it again to Grosjean, possibly destroying his F1 career as well.

Kovalainen ran the old spec McLaren last weekend aswell and look what he managed to do. Kovalainen has actually run an older spec McLaren a few times this year and still has managed to score 5 points. Renault can't get the new upgraded parts onto both cars in time. In all honesty you would put the upgrades onto the better drivers car. The second Renault much like the second McLaren will have the new upgrades for Budapest.

Even then Piquet will be off the pace in Qualifying as usual and then in the race while in 15th place put in some half decent laps that are close to the pace Alonso is doing in 7th-8th place and Renault will keep holding onto Piquet in the hope he can finally start doing better. It has to stop. :banghead:

I don't agree, given how off the pace Renault were at the beginning of the season and if Renault are indeed giving Piquet a car without the latest revisions then how can he be on pace with Alonso; also fuel loads are usually different so qualifying performance is an unfair indicator of pace. Let's face it Briatore is giving Alonso whatever he wants in the hope that he'll remain at Renault to regain the glory days they experienced with Alonso a few years back! We know Alonso can't compete on equal terms with an equal car!

You just have to look at his single season in the McLaren for indications of that!

What, where he was 2 points off winning the title and won 4 races?

What races has piquet not had the new upgrades to his car? Europe & China. (The updates were brand new and only done in time for one car, also not tested so Renault were not sure if they would work so its standard to run one car without the updates to see if they work).

If you put Europe & China aside Piquet is still falling short of Alonso.

It sound like your more anti Alonso then anything else dude?

Edit: Is not also obvious why I want Piquet out of the team? I want Alonso to have a team mate who can actually push him more and beat him in places.

I meant from a mental point of view; Alonso didn't like the fact he didn't have clear #1 status in the team! At Renault he got his clear #1 status which is why I tend to believe that Piquet is telling the truth in reference to having a less competitive car than Alonso.

I am a little anti-Alonso, his constantly running his mouth against McLaren and Hamilton in 2007 and his part in the spygate scandal is the reason I dislike him.

Before he joined McLaren when he won his two world championships with Renault I respected him.
