Not that I want Mosley to stay now that agreement has been found but if the FOTA statements are factual incorrect then I believe that Mosley is within his rights to demand an apology. You can not print knowingly incorrect information about any person; that is called libel, I just hope that FOTA publishes the demanded apology so we can move on!

If FOTA said something that was factually incorrect, then it should be corrected by them. However, Mosley's argument doesn't really stand up. Does he seriously expect anybody of sane mind to believe that he was always going to stand down in October, but because FOTA made a couple of factual errors he would stand again for the presidency.

When is Max going to realize he CANT BLUFF FOTA? The man is a moron. He has gone senile.

Fine, shitcan the deal then. So what? The teams were on their way out the door when Max begged them to stay. If he hasn't been fired yet, I can't for the life of me figure out why. He has continued to issue blank threats that he has not made good on, endless deadlines which are then move further and further back....his bargaining position can't possible get any weaker than it is. The man is a joke and he just makes himself look worse every time he opens his mouth.

I hope to god he does renig on the agreement. The teams hold ALL the cards here. They have the cars, the drivers, the manufacturers, the sponsors, plenty of tracks to choose from that the fans actually would go to.....what do they seriously need the FIA for? Rules? The tires must be round and made with some sort of rubbery like compound...ok, rule number 1 is written. The cars must have a pointy end and that end must face forward at least at the start of the race....rule, number 2 is done. Anyone doubt I can have the rules written before Max's blue pill kicks in? This is the opportunity that FOTA has been waiting for. Max has once again made a public threat that he can't and won't follow through on. FOTA should now pull out of the agreement and call a press conference saying they are forming their own series unless Max is fired before the next race.

All I can say at the moment is: "Oh my god!". I think he is insane. And as you all have pointed, it's all about his ego, and nothing else. I didn't expect him to change his mind once again, but, everything's possible when it comes to Max.

The one thing that saddens me now that 'agreement' has been found is that we shall probably never know what other wierd things our Max does. Briattore suggested that naughty camp commandants were just the tip of the iceberg!

From what I have read at various sites the Italian press were more responsible and gloating about Max getting getting his arse spanked in public twice in past year. Luca or FOTA should not apologize, that would be seen as weakness submission.

I did think oh no when i read Luca's comments, i knew Max would make a fuss about it. bloody childish but Max should not let his own ego get in the way of the future of F1.
arrogance!

From F1 Live:

Far from peace in our time, a furious Max Mosley on Friday suggested that the Formula One Team Association's plans for a breakaway series may be back on.

On Wednesday in Paris, FOTA chairman Luca di Montezemolo sat with the FIA President as well as Bernie Ecclestone as they announced an agreement had been reached to move on after weeks and months of bitter feuding.

But Mosley interpreted the subsequent media coverage of the agreement as manipulated by Montezemolo and the eight rebel teams, keen to portray the deal as a successful coup for FOTA that had resulted in victory as well as his head.

The 69-year-old wrote a letter to Ferrari's Montezemolo demanding a retraction and apology, but on Thursday the Italian instead issued a backhanded compliment by thanking Mosley "for his decision to leave the FIA in October."

Mosley, now again openly rethinking his retirement, is reportedly also furious at FOTA vice-chairman John Howett's appeal to the FIA's World Motor Sport Council that it elect an "independent" President to succeed the incumbent.

He has now written another letter to the FIA member clubs, in which Mosley alludes to Howett's comments that "concern me greatly" and to Montezemolo who "did not keep his part of the bargain."

"We must continue to defend the independence of the FIA, even if this leads to difficulties in the sport," Mosley wrote.

He said the aftermath of the agreement had become "intolerable" and warns that, despite this week's declaration of peace, Formula One now faces another "difficult period."

"This may well result in short-term problems in Formula One," added Mosley. "It is possible FOTA will set up an independent series. The championship has had difficult times in the past, and no doubt will again in the future."

He accuses FOTA - composed of the Ferrari, Toyota, Renault, BMW, McLaren, Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Brawn teams - as being a body with "no sporting ethics" and "under the control" of the car manufacturing industry "we have constantly to monitor."

Even more provocatively, Mosley revealed that one manufacturer team lobbied him to ignore the processes of the Court of Appeal and simply declare 'double diffusers' illegal earlier this year.

He also said that when the FIA championed the road car safety standards system Euro NCAP, "one of the major manufacturers threatened to quit Formula One" in protest.
