Remember the major panic about Bird Flu? I get the feeling this could go the same way. I doubt it will stop the grand prix from taking place.

Well. If you look at, and draw comparisons to, the 1918 flu pandemic, I think there are some things to consider (good and bad) about this latest one (should it actually become a pandemic).

On the one hand, modern medicinal research and development has improved since the beginning of last century, so one would hope that vaccines and cures would be created and made available quite quickly. A greater knowledge of how the strain works would also help.

On the other hand, the 1918 pandemic was pretty bad without modern methods of travel. Back then, there were less holidays abroad and air travel was not a factor. Nowadays, great numbers of people go from one country to another and then back travelling via plane. This could help spread the flu even more quickly.

So, there's good and bad.

And before that, we were all going to die of SARS.

It all reminds me of that sketch about Tomato Flu.

every year there is a new strain of the flu that you never even heard of, media hype does alot to put some fear in your life :twisted:
