The thing is what most people Mclaren fans and people who don't like Mclaren that much all agree on.

Is this should of stopped with Mclaren and Hamiltons Disqualifaction from Oz.

Most McLaren fans, maybe. I don't think the same applies to most people who do not have a specific attachment to McLaren. I've certainly seen many people express the opinion that the transgression was sufficiently serious that some sort of censure is right and proper.

Yeh but its becomming a joke now.

Unfortunately, with Macca on probation from 2007, it's unavoidable.

not really

not as if they were spying..

I reckon theres a whole load of stuff we dont know and max and Ron are locked in battle in the middle of it all. Lewis and Anthony are just lightweights used as a smokescreen.

Actually, the WMSC did not say they would bring McLaren in if they were caught spying again, but rather that they would be brought in again if they were caught bringing the sport in to disrepute again. Another scandal pretty much helped them qualify for this.

Nothing to do with bringing the sport into desrepute. Mosely brought it into far greater disrepute than any of the teams and was even banned from some GP's!

So, he was banned - then McLaren should get banned, too, right?
MM didn't bring F1 per se in disrepute. He did not act as an F1 official or even as an FIA official when he did what he did (unlike McLaren/Ryan/LH). He arguably brought himself in disrepute and it may have reflected on the FIA president position, but not necessarily on F1.

And? Nobody here is saying Max Mosley is a bastion of good and virtue. Most of us believe he's long since become utterly useless and is in dire need of an ouster.

But the FiA =/= Max. The WMSC warned Macca that if they caused another scandal, they'd be back in the Dock. Unfortunately, that is what has happened.

Well they were bannd retrospectively from Australia, they lost all their points. Mosley was/is head of an organisation in a position of power where he passes judgment on others as such he should behave in a manner befitting his role. Joe Public may never have heard of him until they saw his naked bottom being whipped, not a good introduction to a family sport. (F1 that is not bottom whipping!!) Puts it straight into disrepute I'd say from the perspective of the casual observer.

And....
If he is genuinly concerned about the sport being brought into disrepute he should have resigned when his own scandal hit the front pages, he didnt, so he cant be. Hypocrite with a hidden agenda.

Like I said, nobody is defending him. But 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Bear in mind, he kept his job partly by promising not to stand for re-election. Now, if he goes back on the promise, then he loses a lot of credibility.

I know two wrongs dont make a right but one wrong doer is standing in judgment. That is even more wrong, he should be an example of what he preaches. And if for one minute you think a promise means anything to him other than a means to getting what he wants then you are...............now what was it you called me earlier......

Two wrongs do not make a right. Mosleys actions have no bearing on what is right and proper in the current situation. They might reinforce Mosley's status as a hypocrite. But they do not excuse McLaren's actions.

Edit: I should have read through to the end of the thread, I see my points have been made by others.
