I dunno, they'd probably "make it meet the criteria" by adding a namby pamby new corner sequence, like Donnington is. It'd probably ruin the circuit.

I'd rather see ~100 laps of Laguna Seca as it is now than 57 laps of a butchered version of it.

They could easily tinker with the infield sector, maybe branch it off a little bit and let it rejoin on the run up the hill to the corkscrew?

Yeah, Tilke thinks just adding more silly corners makes the circuit longer. Really the best way to lengthen the circuit is to just add some extra straights and very simple corners. This is what you'd do when making a Scalextric track.

I think an 04 Toyota F1 car did the lap in like 1:04, Monaco is 1:14 and 78 laps.

And the 2004 cars are still on record as the fastest F1 cars in terms of lap-times, the only 2004 lap record that has been smashed since was Kimi at Suzuka in 2005. But I have a feeling some lap records could be under threat this year thanks to the new regulations and the grip from the slick tyres.

I mean the A1 ring was cutting it fine on laptime back in the day wasn't it?
And I mean Donnington will be quite short next year will it not?

1:08.337

Set before the 2004 cars. So it could be even lower with this year's cars.

The Paul Ricard circuit used when they shortened the track after De Angelis' fatal crash used to have times cutting it close to the one minute barrier as well.

It certainly seemed that way when I watched the simulated lap.

At the museum they have a simulator with the record lap times up next to it (kinda like Top Gear), if my memory serves me correctly Gillett has the record now at around 1:18, 1:19, something like that.

Hmmm I suppose we'll have to wait and see.
It seems like Gillett has too much time on his hands ;):hehe:

That simulator uses rFactor too. :)

Oh. To save myself from the embarrassment, I think I'll avoid it... :P
