Anyone know if BRAWN GP are going to run KERS at all this season? I reckon in the latter half of the season they will fall behind a little if they don't (this assuming that the weight of non-KERS cars becomes less of an advantage/the KERs teams develop their systems).

They said they wouldn't.

We'll see come spain, and i admit its wishfull thinking on Mclarens part.

However if brawn have money now - why are they making staff redundant - thats why i think they won't be able to develope as fast

I think they are just surplus to requirements; the reason i think they have money is because i have a hunch that Branson is now a shareholder as well as a sponsor... could be wrong though! However if McLaren can get into the top 10 by Barcelona they're definitely a factor at the front, if it stays as close as it seems right now behind Brawn.

Nico could split the Brawns on a good day.

Yep, i'd agree with that actually.

I think that will change. Sure, Brawn may have dominated winter testing, but I would bet that seeing Rosberg dominating Friday practice would have made Branson wonder if testing really was done underweight. Now that he's seen that the car is legitimately fast, he'll probably consider a long-term contract. OR he's waiting for the diffuser row to blow over. If the deal is only for two races, that could indicate that he didn't want to commit until the Court of Appeal hearing after Malaysia.

He's a smart man, he wouldn't put his money in to something that could quite easily go tits-up. And besides, he's already hinted that he might invest in the team with more than just sponsorship :)

If Branson buys into Brawn, how long do you think it'll be until they try to run that fuel Virgin have been developing?

Maybe next year? With the ban on refuelling, they could do some research in to making less of it last longer, meaning their car could be lighter than the others with enough fuel to get around the circuit for all the laps. Probably not possible, but certainly something to consider.

It certainly would be quite a story if the team ran its own "Green" fuel. However the ban on refuelling is probably going to suck :(

Not possible - there are VERY strict regs about fuel composition to be used in F1. First these regs would have to be altered...

Branson and Bernie seem to be buddies,, could he get them to change it?

Well, that's presumably Branson's plan. But the medal system disaster has already shown that BE's clout is somewhat diminished these days...

He still got his wishes through in principle... for 2010 anyways.
Max would also support Branson seeing as he wants Green F1

Doubt the 2010 - FOTA doesn't like it.
Yes, MM would be his biggest ally.

Max and Bernie will burn Fota :hehe:

From F1Live:

OTA rift plays into Ecclestone's hands
Ecclestone:''There's a massive conflict of interest...''
31/03/09 11:06

Bernie Ecclestone
Two of the most prominent figures of the FOTA team alliance are at loggerheads over the 'rear diffuser' saga.

Despite other chiefs of the Formula One Teams Association insisting that on-track issues are separate to FOTA's totally unified efforts, Renault boss Flavio Briatore could not hide his anger at Ross Brawn last weekend.

Briatore chairs FOTA's commercial aspect, while Brawn is in charge of technical matters.

Toyota is also tangled up in the diffuser saga, as one of the teams being protested against, and its president John Howett is the FOTA vice-chairman.

"I don't like the behaviour of the FOTA technical delegate (Brawn), who should have reported this thing immediately," Briatore told the Italian media.

"Brawn should have been fair. Three months ago he should have come to us to tell us there are two interpretations over the diffusers. When I go to the FIA or to Ecclestone, I go in the name of the FOTA, not Renault's. I don't like the fact that a FOTA representative didn't relate things transparently," he added.

Brawn dismissed Briatore's comments as overly emotional, but it is clear the row is playing into the hands of F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone and the FIA, who see FOTA's unity as a threat to their power.

"Can I put something in your mind?" Bernie told the Times newspaper prior to the season opener last week.

"Ross Brawn is the guy that runs the teams' technical committee and probably knows what's going to happen before other people, or is in a position to guide things. There's a massive conflict of interest," the Briton said.

Looks like Bernie is stirring again in the hope of breaking up FOTA.
