You may of lived in Italy but you're not Italian. Secondly the soft Italians you met were not hardcore fans. I like other cars as well. In particular I like Ford. But I don't feel the same emotions with Ford as I do with Ferrari. Here is an example. I follow WRC. I go for Ford. If they win, they win, if they don't then they don't. When Lancia were in it and very successful, I had the same emotions for them as I do for Ferrari in F1. With Ford I do not feel this. So going for Ferrari in F1 is a must for me. It wouldn't be the same supporting any other team, even if I liked that team secondary to Ferrari.
I managed not to be a fully-fledged Ferrari fan when I lived in Italy. I even went to a GP there as a non-Ferrari fan.
Not all Italians are passionate Ferrari fans, not be a very long way & those that are can only be described as tolerent & indeed interested in & polite to fans of other teams.
Simply stating that being in or close to Italy means you must be a Ferrari fan is either a very poor excuse or shows a level of understanding for both the sport & it's place in Italy that is, at best, retarded.
