Hands up who thinks the Force India has the same power available as the Torro Rosso?

Gerhard Berger negotiated a deal to have the same power units as the works team about half way through the season. Thats why thier run of form shot up.

well, so they say yes... but i would imagine the actual units are the same for all anyways, at least very close. That isnt where they will be losing any significant power....the problem is the way the supplier runs the engine, ie the engine mapping.

I bet Red Bull A regrets going over to Renault Power (wot were they thinking) considering STR are using thier chassis.
and since renault are barking about the engine Freeze business, shows they probably not to happy with the performance. RB are stuck. Vettel would probably be better off staying at STR.

Exactly how is that possible when engine development is frozen? I'm rather curious about this. Was there some B-spec Ferrari engine, and would switching to an A-spec mid season technically breach the regulations?

Thats a good point. Unless Ferrari had some extra engines that are in the frozen rule laying around. They were on a older engine before hand along with force India

Having been a Fisichella fan for the duration of his F1 career i think that this is great news, and am looking forward to him at least getting some points again!

thing is, Mclaren want Pedro de la rosa or Mercades DTM Driver Paul di Resta in, so it may be Fisi's last year if he don't do really well.

i mean Force india can ingnore Mclaen, but they proberly wont.

Don't quote me, but it seems that certain teams were making performance-enhancing alterations to their engines under the guise that the changes were to improve their reliability (which in itself has a loophole). Basically, then, it seems to be as you say: Toro Rosso must have been using an earlier version of the same engine.

Well, I don't think Fisichella has had a fair chance this season to show his right speed and knowledge behind the wheel... In far too many races the FI-car was about two seconds slower than the very best, so it was doubtless a great challenge to try to stay with the other cars and be competitive. :banghead:

Just look at the last race in Brazil where Fisi made it up to fifth place and really had to fight for his life trying not to be undertaken by the row behind him... No easy task, but atleast he showed that there's much more racing in himself than his car at this point left! 8-)

Fisichella had chances to show his speed at Renault and Alonso and Kovalainen comprehensively bested him.

Just look at Kovalainen this season... Even if he won a race I think he underperformed in comparison to what car he had to handle. Just like Fisichella in 2006. Last year he was quite competitive to the "second-driver" Kovi (no good sign, but the car didn't suit Fisi at all). :(

But anyhow I'd like to say that Fisi were better in his first season with Renault (helping the team to win both the championships), than Kovi were this year for MacLaren...

I agree with everything which you have said GianFisi :)
It was fantastic to see Fisi back up there in the Brazilian GP and fighting like you say. He is the unluckiest driver in f1 (bar DC this season) but he was once tipped as a future champion and i think he has a point to prove and hopefully a better car will help him prove that.

We'll have to see but to be fair i can see him playing second fiddle to Sutil.

Fisichella has absolutely thrashed Sutil this season. People talk up his performance at Monaco, but that's all he's really done. There have been several other wet races for him to take advantage of (Britain, Italy, Belgium) and he was nowhere. Fisichella, on the other hand, has been fairly impressive given the fact that his car has been so off-the-pace this season.

Of course Fisichella won't be a top-4 driver in the standings again, I am the first one to agree with that. All I wish is that he can put his helmet on the table one day and that everyone then can admit that he was more than an "average" F1-driver...

But that might be the issue after a successful forthcoming season with taking Force Indias very first GP-point, and hopefully more to wait!

My understanding was that Ferrari improved their engines mid season which benefited their customers too... and that coupled to the decent Red Bull chassis is basically what caused the performance improvement at Toro Rosso. Or are people saying that Ferrari just kept the top spec engine to themselves until halfway through the season? Because i don't think that was the case, it doesn't make sense...
